#3 of 15 in Parks in Memphis
Open sunrise to sunset, daily.

Shelby Farms Park lies in the heart of Shelby County in Memphis, Tennessee – 4,500 acres of green space, a community treasure, unrivaled in size and potential anywhere else in the United States.

After years of threats from commercial development and disputes over land use, the Park is now protected by a conservation easement and perfectly positioned to achieve its potential as the next great 21st century park.

The Park’s bold and visionary Master Plan is a roadmap to greatness – not just for Shelby Farms Park but for our community. With several exciting demonstration projects funded, open and garnering national attention, the Master Plan is putting Memphis on the map in a whole new way.

Shelby Farms Park and Shelby Farms Greenline are managed and operated by the 501(c)3 nonprofit organization Shelby Farms Park Conservancy. Our vision is to give rise to a celebrated 21st century park that defines and shapes a great city. Each year, we raise more than $2 million (more than 75% of our operating budget) to manage and operate Shelby Farms Park and the Shelby Farms Greenline.

  • It's beautiful! I regularly walk Shelby Farms for exercise. My goal each time is to spot bison, ducks/geese, turtles, and deer. In addition to the wildlife, I enjoy seeing the different trees which...  more »

  • First time visiting, but this park is gorgeous. Lots of quiet walking trails, both paved and unpaved, and many lakes for kayaking. I'm looking forward to checking out the kayak rental options, and touring the farm areas. They also seem to have festivals and events hosted here, with a lake side restaurant that will be opening soon. Definitely a good place for some outdoor activity.
  • The walking/ running path around the lake is always really well kept, and is nice and wide for traffic in both directions. There's a separate path for bikes to make it even easier for everyone to make room (even if the bikes don't always use it for some reason). Renting kayaks and paddle boards was easy and fun, now just waiting for a restaurant to fill in again and it will be all set!
  • Great park, but needs rides for children, a roller skating part and vibrant colors. Better snack and eateries. It makes me feel like I'm in a desert. I do like the play area for the children though and I volunteered there. Great volunteer program as well!!
  • Such a lush, green, park. My dog and I enjoyed walking through the many trails and getting some fresh air. There is a section currently closed off, being renovated that looks like it will be an extra fun section with swings and ropes courses once reopened. This is a very large park and I only spent a couple of hours here, I'm sure there's much more to be seen! Having water fountains for dogs as well as their humans was a huge plus as well.
  • I go here every so often to ride my bike, or just walk the trails. They've made a lot of changes to it, and at first I was like eh, because I wasn't quite sure what they were going for. I absolutely love it! Very beautiful, and when the lights cut on at night, that's around the time you can catch very beautiful sunsets. They have charging stations for electric cars, front porch type swings right up on the lake, paddle boat, zipline, fishing, and so very much more! Plus, they have a separate bike lane from the Walking Lane, which is great!
