4.5/5 based on 1,600+ reviews on the web
With boardwalks that bring you up to the height of a giraffe's head, Brevard Zoo offers an amazing opportunity to see the black-tongued creatures up close, to pet and feed them, and to be photographed with them. This smallish zoo has more than 650 animals, including multicolored lorikeets (like parrots) you can feed and that may sit on your shoulders. Paddle through the wetlands on a nice, easy kayak ride that gives a different look at many parts of the zoo and its inhabitants. Hop on the Cape to Cairo Express, a train that takes you around Lemur Island, where you can see dromedaries, ostriches, and scimitar oryxes--a species that is extinct in the wild. The zoo is divided into five main areas: Africa, Australasia, Wild Florida, La Selva (the wilderness of South America), and Paws on Play, which has a petting zoo, an aquarium, a pizzeria, and more. If you like zoos but dread the idea of an all-day affair with too much walking, this smaller zoo will appeal to you. If you're a member of another zoo, bring your card and ask if this one has reciprocal admission. • Although it was very hot when we visited it was great, most of the animals were out. nice walk around the exhibits. Would recommend going in the morning and when it's not to to hot and take something ...  read more »
  • We love our local zoo. Large zoos in big cities just are too big and too much to take little kids around. We like this zoo because it has interesting animals and a lot of interaction like feeding the ...  read more »
  • Considering the size of the city, this is a nice zoo! I wasn't expecting it to be a San Diego Zoo, but it was just the perfect size for my kids and what we were expecting. They have a water play area ...  read more »
  • Loved it here. My daughter enjoyed feeding the giraffe and she won the coloring contest for a super cute owl stuffed animal. We got to see many new animals we hadn't before at other zoos. Excited to go back when the rest of the exhibits are finished with their remodeling.
  • Incredible place even for the older kids. I brought my son and three of his friends to the zipline and OMG they had such an incredible time they didn't stop talking about it for days. And it gave me a nice break to relax too . The zoo is clean with easy access, food and drink and so convenient because it is so close I love it.
  • I'm from NYC originally. Moved a little over 8 years ago. I loved the NYC zoos. So big, but always packed! I've been to a couple zoos in Florida, but nothing compares to this one! Reminds me of my favorite zoo in Pennsylvania. It's a nice sized zoo. Beautiful scenery, has awesome add ons like zip lining, and feeding birds, and giraffes, and even little boat rides, and train rides! It's so peaceful and defiantly worth it if you have kids. I enjoyed it a lot and hope to go back soon!
  • My only issue was they need to put up signs for the train saying jo food or drinks my wife and i got dip and dots icecream right before we got on the train the lady said that we couldnt board if we had food or drinks so we wasted $9.00 because they dint have a sign put up and then two ladys boarded the train with drinks witch seemed unfair but besides that we had a fun time.
  • I love the zoo! They have great special events like Boo at the Zoo. Plus great discount specials. They also are part of the community and do a lot of charity events. I love the animals. You can pet a Giraffe!
