  • Stopped for some ice cream! It's a great stop if you are out this way! The owner is very kind to young children and the mango banana ice cream was good!  more »
  • Well, its more of a display of everything "Banana" in an old gas station cafe. The owner are nice folks who I think inherited this collection. (Be careful what you leave your kids with.) It's not a mu...  more »

  • I had a great time visiting with my brother. We were trying to think of a place to go and he just threw out International Banana Museum. I was like...huh? And he was like yeah The International Banana Museum. You’ve never been?! He had read about it and had wanted to go someday. We’ll we drove two hours and saw it. It was a unique experience. So many banana items and they made me THE BEST BANANA MILKSHAKE I’ve ever had. Yeah...now I can say I’ve been to the International Banana Museum next time I’m asked have you ever been? Also I can honestly say now I had the best banana milkshake in my life. The daughter was very friendly and told us all about bananas. I would recommend checking it out!
  • Everyone has to make a buck these days and this place is no different. They charge $1.00 per person to enter the museum, but if you order an ice cream for $1.50 you can come in free. Hey, what a bargain. There are banana everything to look at, or purchase, and smell or feel. Yes, the museum is to get you in the door and to purchase something, but hey it is unique and now you will forever be able to say that you visited the International Banana Museum..
  • This place is bananas. They had an excellent Bananas Foster's milkshake and a bunch of banana-themed toys and nicnacs for sale. The room is full of banana themed curios and artifacts; not much history or science. It is mostly pop culture or containers from decades ago. But the staff is very friendly. The museum is a fun place to get out of the sun after checking out the Salton Sea.
  • Cute Place. They won't let you take Videos or Panoramic because they don't want you to reveal its size, however, photos are allowed. Its about the size of one room. More of a Gift Shop than anything about "History" of bananas and more about Pop Culture than the fruit itself
  • Whenever we stay at the Salton Sea, we always visit the International Banana Museum (IBM). We have been coming several times a year since early 2014. The $1 per person admission is reasonable if you don’t want a banana treat and just want to look around. However the banana shake/malt and the banana split are delicious and reasonably priced. The shop is small, but every time we visit we see banana related flare that we never noticed before. Fred, his wife, and daughter are very nice and always make you feel welcome. Fred used to work by himself, but the place is getting more popular and we were glad to see family helping out. It takes time to make a banana split with love so the wait time is much better these days with help (although there is plenty to look at while you wait). The IBM sometimes opens later than their posted operating hours. I suggest calling ahead to make sure it is open if you are making a special trip or come 30-60 minutes after their opening time. Still, it is a great place, tasty banana snacks, and great people.
