  • We enjoyed our visit to Iron Gate yesterday afternoon. We did a tasting of 11 wines. My boyfriend and I tend to like different wines, but we both liked the Iron Gate Green Apple. We bought that and th...  more »
  • We found 3 delicious wines that we loved during out recent $7 tasting. Nice atmosphere. A pretty patio. Service was quick and excellent. Will definitely be returning on our next trip to Durham.  more »
  • This winery is above average on the whole. The wine is good, the weekends are varied and fun with bands playing and people enjoying it. So if in the area you need to stop and smell the roses. Oh and t...  more »

  • The staff was wonderful. She was so sweet. She helped me and explained the different wines even though I missed the taste testing tour. The wine was really good. It was a great way to spend my friend's birthday.
  • I visited iron gate on July 9 and it was my first and last time going there. The customer service is terrible. There was an older lady working the front counter and she seemed annoyed as soon as I arrived. I had explained that it was my first time there and wanted to know about the tasting and tour. She acted impatient and bothered. I never got to do the tour because she took another group down to the cellar and ignored me and my friends. Then once we purchased a bottle she rudely said that we have to drink outside. Very disappointed that I drove an hour and twenty minutes. There are a lot more wineries in NC, so my advice is to find another one.
  • Absolutely one of our favorite wineries!
  • This winery no longer allows children under the age of 21 into the tasting area, which meant that we weren't able to enjoy a tasting as a family as we had done in the past. We were saddened by this policy (not state or county law). Our son has visited over 30 wineries with us around the world and has never been excluded from the tasting room (and has always sat quietly). In addition, the new trend that we have seen in wineries is that they have small areas for children tucked to the side with Legos or crayons. The last winery we visited even offered children Popsicles! We were saddened to have driven all the way out to the winery only to be excluded by an unfortunate policy.
  • Honestly, this was the most meger wine tasting I have ever had . Not only were you charged $7.00, one of the bottles on the list was unavailable. A half thimble of wine per pour is not enough tasting to determine buying a bottle of anything. I don't know how this place stays in business. . I
