Great Falls Park covers 324 hectares (800 acres) of protected land along the Potomac River. This national park offers 24 km (15 mi) of trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding, as well as a designated picnic area where you can enjoy quiet time in nature. It’s just a short walk to the Great Falls to watch the Potomac River cascade over the edge and into the Mather Gorge. Experienced white-water rafters will enjoy the power of the Potomac, and climbers can try their skills in the designated climbing sites. Great Falls Park Reviews
more »There are many great views anyway. Swiftly flowing Rocky craggy and undulating landscapes just around the corner, I feel is exhilarating. Is the place to make me feel just looking at pictures from the power to conceive, such as nature's power. Or a leisurely walk up the trail, you can picnic in the square. There were people doing barbecue and play ball. I went in October, but now enjoys like scenery of the four seasons.
We visited Great Falls Park for free on MLK Day, and our visit was very satisfactory. It was a frigid day, but the beauty of the falls made the short walk out to the overlooks completely worth it. Par... more »
Lo mejor del lugar es que está a media hora de Washington. Lindas cascadas, más unos rápidos grandes, pero valen una visita si tienen tiempo. more »The best place is that it is half an hour from Washington. Beautiful waterfalls, some faster big, but worth a visit if you have time.
The first time a friend took me here, I was missing the West and feeling closed in by the cities. A half-hour of watching the falls was all it took for me to forget where I was. The falls change according to the seasons and the amount of recent rain. The appearance of these wild falls in what seems to be the middle of an urban area is amazing. Whether you spend an hour or a day, you will leave feeling different--or at least I did. This spot is great for singles, couples, and families. I think it would be great to expose children who know only streets lined with buildings. The power of the water can be felt from the shore. This can be a little frightening, which is not a bad thing.
Very beautiful location. 3 different great hiking trails. We did Billy Goat Trail B. That is considered the moderate one. Which was about right. A even mix of dirt trails and some more difficult spots where you are crossing over straight rock. Lots of little side paths that lead down to the river's edge.
It's beautiful place, excellent to hiking, biking ( Saturday and Sunday the have free rental bicycle from 9 to 4) the environment is so beautiful, perfect for family, couple, friends excursion, walk with your dog, make some exercise, make a picnic, the parking is $10 per car or for get in is $5 per person. Is really beautiful.
