I know these are multi user trails but they are all paved making them less then enjoyable to hike on. Would think a state run nature area with rules not to leave trials or touch anything they wouldn't go through and lay a ton of asphalt but they did. If your looking for a bike trail I'm sure this place is excellent but for hiking might as well be walking down the street.
Loved it. We took the Yellow Trail (over to the McHenry Dam) all the way around. Nice 4 mile walk/hike with easy terrain. Dog-friendly, quiet, clean and lots of nice views.
Had so much fun hiking the trails here. Beautiful and well maintained. Great nature center with lots for the kids.
Beautiful views, great trails for hiking, dog walking, or bike riding. Excellent job of keep this park free of garbage and always looking fantastic. Very friendly park staff, ample parking, and a variety of terrains to exercise and enjoy!

Moraine Hills State Park has part of the park along McHenry Lock and Dam on the Fox River. It is a very placid place with a trail head, picnic tables, concessioner of row boats, fishing, and wildlife viewing. Only drawback is no "flushies".
