  • Let's just says the closeness of this campground to the city has to be the best ever. The downside let's start with the amount of people packed into the camp sites. They are so close together and not ...  more »

  • We visited on a gorgeous Monday afternoon in early May. I'd give Ponderosa a 5, except that the Visitor's Center was closed and the restrooms were locked. We duly self-paid the park entrance fee and e...  more »

  • I use to come here when I was a little girl and stay next door (Taylor's park) with my grandparents. I would ride my bike all over pondarosa and had a blast. So I am sad to say that I'm disappointed with how money Hungry the park seems to be now. The park is very clean and well kept but the price is a bit high for what you pay for. $75.00 for 2 nights (full hook ups) . But I figure I had so many wonderful memories here in the past that it should be worth it. In the old pondarosa park they was logging going on which is sad since it's a state park why would we need to log there of all places?!? The deer are no longer afraid of people in any way shape or form and not to mention the firewood is sky high priced. For goodness sakes your in the woods!! Why am I paying 5$ for a small bundle of wood that is picked up from the left over fire pit and rebounded and resold. Over all the scenery was beautiful and the lake is just how I remember it but I don't think I'll be returning at the current prices.
  • This is our second family reunion held at ponderosa state park. The camping areas are well kept, clean and close to restrooms and showers. Our site was pet friendly and a short walk to the lake or the sand volleyball court. We had a blast kayaking and even saw an elk up close on the way to the beach. It's not far from McCall and is such a fun place to vacation!
  • A great piece of public land. We went snowshoeing, but I am definitely going to go back in the summer for mountain biking. There's a 7 mile looping trail that climbs 300ft to get great views of Payette Lake.
  • Great camping. Super close to the lake. Rv spots have all the hook ups. They have showers too.
  • I do not recommend staying at Ponderosa State Park with a large group of people be it family or friends. You will be flagged as a disturbance and harassed not only by the camp host but by the Park Rangers as well. The group I was with purchased 6 sites and by the end of the day we were told by Park Ranger Terry that we were talking to loud and needed to speak quietly or she was calling the sheriff for disturbing the peace, she also stated our money was wanted or needed. Funny since the money we pay maintains the park. I will not be back nor will/do I recommend camping here to any and all future guest. Being family we had variety of ages from a 1 month old baby to 18 year old girls with odd ages in between. We also had two dessert storm veterans as well. We spent our day as any other family swimming, walking biking and cooking. We were visited 9 times by the ranger and camp host all because we were a large group and they were concerned we would cause problems. How very disappointing that you cannot travel with family because if you are too big your instantly flagged as a problem.
