nicely labeled trails here and very close to town. Take $5 for park entrance fee. The walk will not disappoint. It is green and there are lots of beautiful views.
I had a wonderful extended weekend at Ponderosa St. Park. My family is new to Idaho and we are getting to know the area. We were delighted by the beauty of the park and will be coming back soon! PSP w... read more »
Camped for the weekend. Not as busy towards end of September. Love the trails for mountain biking. Visit here often.
Great get away.... Those that complain about being told to keep your group under control....are out of control. It's a public park, you should respect the other campers. Some groups think they rule the roost, and just because they pay for spots means they can party hardy all day and night. You can have fun, and respect others at the same time. There's a difference between enjoying your self and just plain letting your kids run thru the sites like wild monkeys...
I do not recommend staying at Ponderosa State Park with a large group of people be it family or friends. You will be flagged as a disturbance and harassed not only by the camp host but by the Park Rangers as well. The group I was with purchased 6 sites and by the end of the day we were told by Park Ranger Terry that we were talking to loud and needed to speak quietly or she was calling the sheriff for disturbing the peace, she also stated our money was wanted or needed. Funny since the money we pay maintains the park. I will not be back nor will/do I recommend camping here to any and all future guest. Being family we had variety of ages from a 1 month old baby to 18 year old girls with odd ages in between. We also had two dessert storm veterans as well. We spent our day as any other family swimming, walking biking and cooking. We were visited 9 times by the ranger and camp host all because we were a large group and they were concerned we would cause problems. How very disappointing that you cannot travel with family because if you are too big your instantly flagged as a problem.
Stayed at the cabins by the beach. Cozy, clean, wifi, kitchen to cook in, front porch to grill, table with board games, upstairs for kids room and great view of lake. Even had deer come up to the front to graze!
Great beach access. Had a wonderful family picnic. Park fees were cheap at $5 a vehicle. Wonderful swimming area marked out for the kiddos to enjoy. Great kayaking!
Such a beautiful park. The water was so clear and a safe swim area. We just visited for the day but we definitely plan to come back for a night or weekend.
