  • Our library is a converted Walmart, so it is very spacious. Big computer lab, very nice children's library, rooms for individual or group studies. Took our 3 grandkids there, always had crafts going o...  read more »
  • This library looks amazing and it has a lot of resources available. My favorite part is how many tables and couches there are for reading or studying. I'm studying right now so it's a great environment. The only issue is that there will be a bit of noice and the AC leans towards the cooler side. I usually bring earphones and a sweater. Fun fact: the library was made from an old Walmart building and it is the largest one-story library in the United States!
  • Very helpful computer aides! They always help you out and go above and beyond. So grateful
  • This library, along with every library in McAllen (or the United States, in general) is absolutely wonderful. I think it's incredibly sad and gut wrenching to know that someone would shun a child from such an enriching and wonderful building of knowledge simply because they're ashamed of teaching their child proper human anatomy. If your 9 year old child doesn't know the exterior differences between a man and woman, then the last place you want to shun them from is a library. Go your public library, pick up a few books and teach your child about government, poverty, wars and existentialism, and maybe he'll learn that there's far worse things to be terrified of than human breasts. Edited to add: Reading can also teach you a thing or two about correct grammar and punctuation.
  • Yesterday, March 13th 2016 my 9 year old son and i went to the library. I am always very conscious about what my son listens to and views. However yesterday things were out of my control. As we were leaving the dvd section and headed to the nonfiction on a shelf being displayed at the large print books there was a book cover with 2 nude women. I don't believe there should be any place for this in a public library. Family fun turned into inappropriate in a flash of a second. My son saw the picture, thanks city of mcallen, good job in showing my son what I have protected him from for 9yrs. Last time I take my family there.
  • So far I've had no problems with this library. It's emplyees are professional and courteous. They have a great computer lab and great selection of books and videos "dvds, Blu-ray " etc. I love that fact that you can reserve a specific item and they will notify you when it has been checked back in. Coming from Dallas and used to the huge libraries over there, this was was a pleasant surprise. Also looks very clean and kept up every time I go.
