  • Mayo River may not be a large state park in North Carolina, but it brings along with it the history of what this land was used for before becoming a state park. The picnic area and restrooms were clea...  more »

  • I really enjoy this little park. At first I didn't think it was going to be much. The trails are very easy/moderate. And are definitely worth it once you get to the falls. The parking area is nice and has a very short walking trails. They have shelters and picnic tables. It's a very nice place for a day trip 😊
  • This was a really Nice little state park. Got great information from the park ranger. The bathrooms were extremely clean. The grounds were well kept ample parking. And I was given directions to awesome little waterfall spot which me and my dog hung out at for a couple hours. Thank you for the wonderful experience.
  • Found drug and drinking remnants, this place needs security or at least some cameras especially on some of the side roads not so easily monitored. As a child years ago this was a great place. Now it may be pretty but attracts a lot of places to make *exchanges and uses *. For a state river park that will fine you for going near any of the river areas and doesn't have any doesn't watch out for illegal activities very well that are obvious if you just look around. Not safe for kids or families as eventually one of these activities will cost lives.
  • This place is just a few minutes from my house and a awesome day getaway location. Kyaking, floating, hiking, fishing. Always lots of people in the summer. Family friendly.
  • An under appreciated gem of a place. The main picnic shelter is an impressive architectural structure. The lake is beautiful and great for fishing. The trail is an easy but lovely hour or less, maybe wet in places depending on the weather.
