  • We hiked down in August and the pools were great. But in the winter, it's a different story. The pools are on the northern side of the island. The winter surf comes from the north. So rogue sneaker wa...  more »
  • Definitely worth the drive. Bring goggles and win in the pools. Quick hike down with breathtaking views on both sides, watch the waves, explore the wild life, super awesome.
  • Amazing! Steep walk down over rocks, but so worth it. Glad I had river shoes to wear while climbing from one pool to another. It is very special to be protected in these pools with the raging ocean ju...  more »

  • Loved the polls water is very salty and looks like a bunch of little fish tanks in all the holes around the pools
  • Loved it. Had 3 kids (3, 5, 8) which I carried each thru some spots. Many paths, choose wisely. Several pools, half slick rocks in pools, go slowly. Stay away from edge at bottom, should be obvious but it's tempting to get close. Lots of little fish, some crabs. Wear shoes. Go east on the highway after ONLY if you know what you're doing and enjoy 1 lane rd with no shoulder or guardrail/barrier.
  • Heed the warnings from other reviews about shoes for climbing down and back out. The rocks in the pools are really slick as well. Pretty cool to see up close. Don't bother continue driving the road north from here, it's mostly one lane and super windy. Turn around and head back south
  • So much fun. Great pools. Decent hike down to them so plan on some exercise but it is worth it.
  • Bit of a hike... The road is a fun adventure of a drive. The pools are surreal, tranquil and perched on the edge of the mighty Pacific ocean. So don't be stupid. Check the tide charts. Low tide is best. A big high tide and you might find you'd self in trouble. Watch the surf. If it's big be smart. Last little bit of helpful warning. Don't poke around the really cool olivine encrusted rocks to much. Teh ones that look like they are full of holes make great critter homes. (Sometimes really angry critters with wings and stingers...)
