We got to the pools at 9am an we were the only ones there. My kids (5&6) year olds enjoyed Jumpn in the clear clean pools! We all wore water shoes so it helped. There's a blow hole next to the pools. ... read more »
Continue driving past the blowhole. Right before marker mile 16 (state road ends around mile 40 then you get on local road) you will see a dirt turn in your right. Park there. Head down the path. Igno... read more »
If you are in Maui then you must visit this miracle spot. It's a natural pool and you get to cliff dive. It was very memorable.
Loved it. Had 3 kids (3, 5, 8) which I carried each thru some spots. Many paths, choose wisely. Several pools, half slick rocks in pools, go slowly. Stay away from edge at bottom, should be obvious but it's tempting to get close. Lots of little fish, some crabs. Wear shoes. Go east on the highway after ONLY if you know what you're doing and enjoy 1 lane rd with no shoulder or guardrail/barrier.
So much fun. Great pools. Decent hike down to them so plan on some exercise but it is worth it.
Heed the warnings from other reviews about shoes for climbing down and back out. The rocks in the pools are really slick as well. Pretty cool to see up close. Don't bother continue driving the road north from here, it's mostly one lane and super windy. Turn around and head back south
Bit of a hike... The road is a fun adventure of a drive. The pools are surreal, tranquil and perched on the edge of the mighty Pacific ocean. So don't be stupid. Check the tide charts. Low tide is best. A big high tide and you might find you'd self in trouble. Watch the surf. If it's big be smart. Last little bit of helpful warning. Don't poke around the really cool olivine encrusted rocks to much. Teh ones that look like they are full of holes make great critter homes. (Sometimes really angry critters with wings and stingers...)
Always a great place to visit! The pools are teeming with wildlife and fun to swim in. Be careful of the hill trip down as it can be slippery with loose rocks. And please don't be dumb and climb on the rocks when there's a lot of wave action!
