Fat Hill Brewing, a 7-barrel craft brewery, opened downtown Mason City this December. Its brewing facility and taproom in the long-vacant historic building at 17 N. Federal Avenue features sixteen taps, space for 140 patrons, and a variety of live music and special events. You can plan Mason City trip in no time by asking Inspirock to help create your itinerary.
Fat Hill Brewing got its name after we realized Cerro Gordo means Fat Hill in English. We wanted a name that would have a special meaning to locals but also be appealing to visitors and we think we found the perfect one.
The taproom sells pints, flights, crowlers, growlers, and kegs on request.
Please see Tap Room page on our website for info about holding your next private event with us. (http://www.fathillbrewing.com/tap-room/)

First off, what a menu of beers! Next..AWESOME beers! The staff is exceptional and experienced, they can explain each beer to you! I've been coming here since they opened...one of (many) favorite Iowa brewery stops! This crew does a GREAT job! Cheers!!
Loved the atmosphere and decor. Good beer and great entertainment the night I was there, Fernando Ufret! Fantastic! Only 4 stars because the place is quite loud (all hard-surfaces makes the sound bounce around making it hard to talk to those around you).
Great beer and awesome facility in Mason City. Lots of space and good people. The Rongo Rongo is my favorite. We stop in every time we are in town visiting family.
The smell of yeast and hops greet you at the door. But, soon after your first glass you no longer notice. Your taste buds are just too happy to care.
Fat Hill is quite neighborly. The beer is great, the root beer too! Women and men talked, drank beer, gathered at table for crafts, or for intimate conversation. The long bar backed by the tall stone wall makes this place feel just right!
