  • My wife is the artist and very much wanted to see the Chinati exhibits. I was converted! The permanent collections are seen via guided tours. They are well worth it. If you are a contemporary art fan,...  more »

  • Fantastic works and a great tour guide to explain all the works and more. They lose a star for being too precious about taking photos of the works. I understand wanting the audience to take in the experience and the work as it happens, but in modern times when communicating your experience is so centric, their stringent policy stifles some of the excitement.
  • The compositions created by each grouping of modules is worth taking time to observe as well as the composition as a whole. I also noticed an emotional response to a few of the individual groupings. I look forward to my next visit!
  • There was a lot of rabbits. Not too many rabbits, but definitely enough rabbits. I’d say there was an acceptable amount of rabbits. They were running all around the art and seemed to appreciate the art as much as rabbits can, although they were very distracted by snacking on the grass. They were also very friendly rabbits but not overbearing; sort of the same level of friendliness I appreciate from a sales person when I am shopping for pants.
  • Photos do not do this justice. Though I have known of Donald Judd and the Chinati foundation since the 70's, this was my first visit. The inability of still photopgraphy to capture what is truly more of a cinamatic experience left me unimpressed. How wrong I was! Go!
  • There were two things I found valuable at the Chinati Foundation. 1. They have books. 2. I walked around. I like books and I like walking. I didn't buy any books or walks, but there was a free walk which I perused. On the walk I browsed the culvertarts. I was not particular enamored with them culvertarts. They were concrete. They were big. I felt like there should be an absurd seaside chase scene. There wasn't. To be clear, I wasn't disappointed, but I never felt particularly appointed.
