  • Donald Judd controlled all aspects of this display and the interior space and the way he connects it to the exterior landscape can't be replicated. His complex open cubes constructed with stainless st...  read more »

  • What a visionary Judd was. The 100 untitled works in aluminum and the 15 untitled works in concrete were glorious, and the new Robert Irwin building is transcendent! Loved the whole tour and our docen...  read more »

  • The outside exhibit is free, and involves some walking. The indoor stuff appears to be via tours only, the tours are on the long side and pricey. With a 2yo in tow, we didn't bother with the tours.
  • Thank you for getting me in free, but no thanks. The guy there was very strange and the woman there creeped us out. He was very judgmental and he thought he was boss. Don't go, it's boring.
  • The Concrete shapes were quite impressive, but would have even more so had the grounds been better maintained. Too many weeds in the area and way too many rat droppings within the structures. The 5 or so Chinati employees I saw siting around inside the visitor center doing nothing could have been doing some much needed maintenance. The aluminum box exhibit inside the large hangars was especially impressive. The technical assembly alone was mind boggling, not to mention the brilliant use of light and shadows to stimulate the view.
  • A collection of minimalist art, founded by Judd. While it is in a remote Texas town, it is a must visit destination and worth the trip! Walking the grounds and viewing the art in a natural setting allows you to fully appreciate the art and scenary. Best time to visit is October for the open house. I personally got to meet Judd, Chamberlain, Turrel and many others there!
