Inspirock Rating:
3.6/5 based on 1,200+ reviews on the web
With 79 acres (32 ha) of unoccupied white sandy beaches, Tigertail Beach sits alongside a tidal lagoon. The beach hosts water sports galore, and you can rent paddleboards and kayaks by the hour. Considered one of the best all-around bird watching spots in southwest Florida, the beach is a critical habitat for migrating and indigenous birds, including herons, pelicans, and egrets. Deck chairs and tiger-striped cabanas are available to rent for the day. Families will appreciate the playground and cafe on site. • We did the "walk around" to get to the beach, since I was a bit squeamish about walking through the lagoon without water shoes on! We should have taken less STUFF and more water. Once we got there tho...  read more »
  • Pack light because you need to walk to the lagoon, then thru the lagoon to get to the gulf beach. But it is quiet, peaceful and great for finding amazing shells.
  • Beach was very nice and clean. We did shelling and found several whole sand dollars and other really nice shells. Would recommend this beach for everyone.
  • Very disappointing, lack of park information at entry point. Poor signage for parking that made a long walk with chairs and cooler to beach. No information in regards to what birds and wildlife features might be there to see. Very poor communication about park amenities. During our visit there was a foul smell at the beach and construction work. Overall, the only highlight was a brief sighting of dolphins by chance. Will not return to this park.
  • Fantastic shelling. Prepare for a long walk up Marcos Island to find some great shells but it's well worth it. Parking very reasonable. Staff great and multiple lots to park in. Best beach we went to in the Ft Myers, Sanibel, and Captiva area.
  • To enjoy the beauty of this beach you have to cross the water in the lagoon. Follow the other folks across. Well worth the trek for a wonderful beach and shelling. If you stay on the lagoon side you will be missing out on a natural beach experience.
  • Eh.... nice parking area/park. But i wouldnt come to this beach planning to stay and enjoy the day with the kids. Depending on the tide there isn't much sand. And due to the current, the shore line was dirty. Not much shells and it was also smelly. We won't be back.
  • Not sure what all the hype is about?!?? The lagoon smells VERY BAD and the water is mucky and dirty!!! Parking is $8. They have food/drinks/restrooms/small playground. They also have paddle boards/water buggy rentals. Wading across the lagoon to check out the gulf beach was cool and interesting (water was waste high in spots (so this could be challenging with small kids)). With the angle of this beach and the wind/wave the current was very strong the day we went and was easily pulling us down beach quickly.
