  • Nice place to stop and visit. Right on the lake with great views. Historical site. Very well kept with plenty of areas to sit and relax. Walk around the entire lake area. Picnic areas.
  • Marblehead state park had beautiful views of Lake Erie. We didn't picnic, but it had many spots. We walked on the rocks which could have been tricky for some, but we didn't have problems. Listened to ...  read more »

  • Beautiful calming views. Good for place to gave a picnic with many picnic tables available. Nice place to listen to the waves crash ashore and watch the sailboats and ships pass along. If it's not muggy /foggy you can see cedar point and downtown Sandusky. On the other side is Put-In-Bay. They also provide tours of the lighthouse given the season.
  • Based on the reviews, I was expecting something more spectacular than what awaited us after a 1.5hr motorcycle trip to the lighthouse. Don't get me wrong, its' really neat. Very pretty view . But the area is really small, crowded, and the lighthouse tours end really early. Not much to do here. You go see it, take a couple pictures, sit on the giant rocks on the shore, and then go home. I've been to a dozen or so lighthouses along the Atlantic Coast, Pacific Coast, and Gulf of Mexico. Maybe that's why this one was underwhelming. We stayed for around a half hour, instead of the couple hours we anticipated spending there. The roads were really busy going to and from the lighthouse as well, so anticipate lots of traffic in the terminal area. *** Strengths: Historic, well maintained, pretty scenery, lakefront *** Weaknesses: Crowded, small area, lighthouse tours ended quickly, lighthouse seems small *** Recommendations: Go during non peak hours, don't expect to be wowed.
  • Very nice park. Beautiful views both from the shore and from the lighthouse. A small museum. Portable washrooms. Free parking.
  • Nice little town on the lake. Great place for a quiet vacation. It is also a connecting point to Kelleys Island to double down on visiting areas
  • We like this lighthouse. The new building with additional exhibits was nice as well, the kids loved the boat and models in that building. Three dollars to go up to the top of the 77 steps in the lighthouse. That was worth doing at least once.
