  • Staff was excellent. They were engaging, answered all of our questions and it was a nice, quiet jump back in time. It's expensive but it's a non profit and keeps the farm going. Thanks Folks!
  • A wonderful historical place. You can take your time looking around. We enjoyed feeding chickens right out of our hands.
  • The kids loved it. It was a nice change of pace activity. We spent about an hour and a half there exploring. The kids got to dress up, ride an ox pulled wagon ride, feed chickens, gather fresh laid eggs, and explore different buildings. It was worth the trip.
  • Visited with my kids and husband yesterday. The staff were both friendly and knowledgeable. They took the time to interact with our 2 and 5 year old girls while also making sure we got a lot of information about the site. Wagon ride is a must, we got so much information just from that. The girls loved dressing up and helping with farm chores.
  • The self guided tour of a pre-Civil War family farm was a fun experience. The workers are in costume but not in character, however they opperate the farm using the methods and tools of the day. When we visited, the ox cart needed repairs and the farm hand showed us the pieces he was fabricating with a replica saw and antique hand drill and drawing knife as well as pieces from the forge on the property. The kitchen maid talked about the food grown in their garden and different ways of preserving and preparing it. All the buildings are open can be explored, including lofts and attics. At this time there are no guided tours available, but there are some special events during the fall season beyond the self-guided tours. No special pricing for children (though kids under 5 are free), elderly, or military, but the $8 entry fee is well worth the price.
