Seeing Laura's homes was a most surreal experience for me. Growing up, I read her books and watched the TV series based upon her life. To "see" Laura as an adult, knowing that she cooked, slept, worke... more »
We used our 2017 spring break for a pilgrimage to the historic home of the Wilder family, mostly for my daughter who has read every book she can find about Laura, Rose and the entire family. Admission... more »

Really neat to be able to visit the home with the family. Simple and yet well done.
Our family really enjoyed our visit. The new museum & visitor center is very nice. Bought several books in the book store & the staff kindly sent a book to our home that was momentarily out of stock.
It is such a wonderful experience for my family to visit this place. Many of Laura Wilder's sayings are so true and biblical. I am amazed to see how she has been used as a precious vessel to teach us about character, family, education and many other things. One of her quotes impressed me the most but I couldn't recall the exact wording. A few days later I called the museum and they kindly emailed me back the quote (since no photograph/video recording is allowed in the museum). Think about her saying below and contrast it with what is going on in our culture right now: "The responsibility for starting the child in the right way is the parents - it cannot be delegated to the schools or the state, for the little feet start on life's journey from the home." - Laura Ingalls Wilder
Loved it! If you like the little house books you will love this place. You can tour two of the houses and there is a museum. Really enjoyed the Americana history and learned more about her and her daughter, Rose.
It's a great piece of Missouri history! The home is maintained well and absolutely beautiful! Our tour guide was sweet as pie!
