  • We arrived late in the day, one and a half hours before closing. We really wanted to see the submarine tour and were able to get on the last guided tour. That left us with about 20 minutes to see the rest of the museum (definitely not enough time). The tour of the submarine was great and the guide, Julie, was knowledgeable and had several interesting stories of men who served on the Cobia. As we were leaving, we expressed to the staff our regret of not having enough time to see the rest of the museum. They suggested that we come back the following day (with no additional charge) to see the rest of the museum. How great is that?
  • Definitely worth every penny! We paid and had 45 min to walk around and look around before the tour started. Unfortunately we were unaware the museum was not guided along with the tour so we basically waisted the 45 min looking in the small area around the gift shop. When we first got there a group of foreign exchange students were being showed around so we thought all of it would be guided. So after the 45 min wait and doing the submarine tour (which was amazing!) it was only then we discovered the rest of the entire museum on our own which was not guided. So definitely worth the money. I grew up in the town and was a little on the poorer side so we were never able to afford to take our large family. The price is no where near what other museums charge (and they don't have a real submarine) so it was finally a great experience I've been wanting to do for a very long time. Give yourself time to really explore especially if nautical life is something that interests you.
  • So disappointed with this place. I checked the reviews to see if this happened to anyone else and it doesn't look like it. I may email them as well. So we drove out of our way today to stop. We could have just drove home which would been a shorter drive but hubs told our boys about the submarine  (6 and 3) and they were excited to go. We walked in at 12:03, was told that the 12 tour was full and next was at 1:00. We decided to try and get lunch and come back. Which ended up stressful trying find a place and get back in time. I didn't get to eat much do to issues with kids, bathroom meltdowns. But we did it walked in at 12:50 and said we were ready. There was now a new person who let me know that great we had time to walk around yet. What? Wait? 😲Next tour was at 1:30. I let him know we were told 1:00. He let me know that tours are based on # people. I let him know we were verbally told there was a tour at 1:00. He let me know that we would be the only people and that was not enough for a tour😠 I'm upset. Kids are upset. My review would not even be 1 star. This is terrible consumer service. We now have another 3 hour drive before we're home. Now I will say hubs was the one that "checked out" Web page. I didn't know there was paid tours and i should have done my research. This was a spare of the moment idea on hubs. I'll update my review if we ever do go on a tour.
  • Wow what a cool place!! I have never seen a sub up close. Then we went inside and with a tour guide named Keith who knew everything about the boat. I took my kids and we enjoyed the whole attraction. Operating the lock and dam with boats was a blast. What a neat way to honor Wisconsin Vets. They have card almost like baseball cards with information about the sailor who served. Discounts for Vets.
  • If you are anywhere near Manitowoc, a trip to the Maditime Museum and the USS Cobia is a must. The model ship displays ate amazing.
