  • I booked lodging on the SS City of Milwaukee as a surprise gift for my husband and for a good friend visiting from Germany. Saying that they were delighted doesn't begin to describe! We had the privilege of exploring the vessel during our stay, and the high point was a tour guided by Duane, who shared dozens of details and amazing facts about every part of the ship and its history at sea. It is a must see!
  • It's a step back in time. Nothing virtual or digital about this experience. This is real. You must appreciate the age of this vessel and what it takes to run it. Pictures and videos can only do so much, actually spending a night on the ship, touring it and hearing the details really bring it alive. The grandchildren would go wild on the City of Milwaukee It's historic, unique one of a kind. I'll be back.
  • We stopped here just to take some pictures
  • To appreciate the Size of this Rail Car ferry you need to step back. Built in 1931, the ferry operated for half a century hauling loaded rail cars across Lake Michigan. In fact, she could haul an entire train across the lake while passengers enjoyed the craftsman style accommodations above.
