  • Am I the only person who likes to walk in historic places and just imagine what it was like? Walking around the battlefield is a sobering saunter, but well worth it - whether your a civil war student ...  read more »
  • We took the tour and it was most impressive. Our tour guide was extremely informative and fielded questions well. The tour is 45 minutes long and well worth it for the civil war buff. A 45 minute vide...  read more »
  • Remarkable to be at such an important historic site. Sight lines are still clear so you can actually picture the battle, where the troops were, where the high ground was, where the artillery was. Visi...  read more »
  • Though it may not match up with Gettysburg (what can?), Manassas is quite the place in its own right. There are numerous tours offered that explain the events of the first and second battles. We did the Henry Hill tour that describes the events of the first battle. The ranger gave an excellent tour. I always enjoy learning more than what videos and visitor center museums can provide. We also went on the Deep Cut tour. This was also informative. I don't think you can go wrong with an NPS-led tour at a Civil War battlefield. The video, while long, was extremely detailed and informative. Probably more so than any other museum video I've ever watched. The exhibits at the Henry Hill Visitor Center were great, especially the diorama that shows the first battle. Make sure to visit the house at Brawner Farm to see the diorama about the second battle and more informative exhibits. I always find battlefields to have an eerie quality to them. Manassas is no different. Make sure you visit!
  • A truly beautiful place. My wife and I had our engagement photo shoot here and it was wonderful. I think that there is a nice contrast with the conflagration of the past and the serenity of the park today. There are nice trails and a very picturesque bridge. Great for a walk.
  • Not a small place. Covers several miles in all directions. Two days walking... one driving. Informative people at many locations. Not really youth friendly... they will get bored easy.
  • The site of the first civil war; the battlefield is well kept. Easy to moderate walking trails/loops and parking is easy. There is good signage everywhere to provide some perspective and historical reference to the location. Definitely bring along some water for your walk around the battlefield.
  • So interesting, so much fun, so much to see and do. First off, however, historic places kind of have to be "your thing" if the above is going to apply to your experience as well. If you come expecting a mindless experience than you've come to the wrong place. If you want to learn about our nation's history, however, and walk around the actual battle grounds of the 1st and 2nd battles of the Civil War with a very knowledgeable tour guide, and, if you're up to it, go on a really scenic 1.4 mile hike that takes you across the historic "Stone Bridge" (all for FREE!), then the Manassas National Battle Field Park is for you!
