Zuma Beach, Malibu

4.5
#1 of 20 in Outdoors in Malibu
One of the most popular beaches in the greater Los Angeles area, Zuma Beach attracts swimmers, surfers, fishers, and beachgoers alike with reliable waves and smooth sands. Part of Malibu's famous coastline, the beach stretches along the Pacific Ocean and is backed by mountains and foothills. You can hit the waves on a surfboard or body-board and then soak up the sun on sand renowned for its cleanliness. Though lifeguards are on duty during the day, you need to be careful at all times in the water; rip currents can be very strong. • We visit California every year and always make time to spend several days at Zuma irrespective of the time of year. Wonderful wife beaches with plenty of space to set up rugs & picnic baskets. I’m by ...  more »
  • As per title. Yes, the name Zuma is, as they say, makes the difference ... as I agree with Fabiamo M, the beach has nothing special compared to many other (better) views in the area. The cliff (although no rocks). I would say that apart from interests for surfers and the famous sunset, I haven't rilveato anything to shout about. Of course if you are in the area or passing stop. Eye to Park poorly or without pay (ticket) Available for refreshment or some rare mobile kiosk or at the bottom of the Sunset Restaurant.

  • Having been to Malibu a handful of times over the years, it's a bit of an odd place. The wealth/celebrity factor weigh heavily on the air of the town, but there is also pretty conspicuous evidence of an emerging (or abiding) grunginess. That said, Zuma Beach never fails to seduce and lift away all other elements and considerations if you let it. Go at sunset; you'll be hard-pressed to find a more beautiful scene.
  • Want to have a great time at the beach? Go here. Waves are always awesome, just be careful, they will crush you. Clean and well kept beach with lifeguards close by for your safety. Enjoy the restaurant straight from the beach located just south of the main stretch
  • I've been going to Zuma Beach for 45 years. The beach is great watch out for big waves and Riptides but the worst thing at that beach are the LA County Sheriff's. While you're in the water, they will go up and search your ice chest for alcohol, then when you come back to your spot and open up your ice chest, they will then pounce on you. LA County Sheriff's at Zuma Beach suck, they should be looking for pedophiles, rapist and other criminals. But no, they choose to harass tax-paying citizens on their days off when they're trying to enjoy the beach.
  • One of my favorite beaches in Southern California. Beautiful sand beautiful people. Beautiful sunsets. Generally it's not overly packed especially in the North End of the beach
  • This is a state beach in Malibu and pretty far, almost at the end of Malibu town. Been here twice and loved it both times. Clean, less crowded and lots of places to eat nearby.
