  • A great walk around the old buildings in Madison. I stayed downtown and enjoyed walking around at this pretty campus. I would come back.  more »

  • I do not go to this school, nor do I even live in WI. I am visiting and thinking about transferring. My point is that all I am rating on right now is what I saw and explored - mixed with how we were treated by other students and staff. Had a great experience. The buildings are absolutely gorgeous and they have a really cool little alley with food carts. Everyone we encountered was very friendly and helpful. We were approached twice by people who could tell we were clearly lost!! HA. I appreciated that very much. Only 4 because I don't know how the actual classes or professors are there (yet?).
  • I liked this place really a lot. I stayed over there for a week and had great fun, nice backyard lake view. It's such a live and vibrant place to live.
  • Graduated 2017. Fantastic college experience. Good athletic spirit and academic environment. You can have a promising future while having fun (top party school) at UW Madison. Go Badgers!
  • Great school and certainly very challenging. Huge number of research opportunities and a lot of cool events around campus. Be ready to get destroyed first year if you're pursuing a STEM field and used to cruising through high school and getting a 4.0, I certainly did.
  • The is the psychiatric department is a abomination. They do experiments that cause mental illness. Claudia Reardon is a BAD PERSON after i disclosed to her that my father had cancer, she dumps me as a patient for something that has nothing to do with mental health, we had a disagreement about my treatment. So she wrote a bunch of negative things about me in epic "there data base" but when i reach out on pubic media, inbox text her on how upset I was. She gets me kicked out of University programs cause, I inbox texted her on face book in 2012. If you want serous mental heath care, U.W. is not the place to get it.

Where to stay in Madison

The university and state politics draw a constant stream of visitors to Madison, so you'll find a wide range of accommodations in the city. Numerous hotels circle the campus, and some of these overlook Lake Mendota. Moving onto the isthmus between Lake Mendota and Lake Monona, you'll find a handful of charming inns and bed and breakfasts, most of which offer panoramic views of the water. Areas south of Lake Monona feature national chain hotels and motels. These sit farther away from the action around campus and the State Capitol Building, but they can also offer water views and quiet settings near some of Madison's many parks.
