Madison is a city in and the county seat of Jefferson County, Indiana, United States, along the Ohio River. The population was 12,004 at the 2000 census. In 2006, the majority of the downtown Madison Indiana area was designated the largest contiguous National Historic Landmark in the United States—133 blocks of the downtown area is known as the Madison Historic Landmark District.

  • Very cute downtown. Lots of historical buildings filled with neat, unique shops. Lots of antique & handmade specialty shops. Plenty of food options. Parking can be limited and you will walk a lot. Tow...  more »
  • A great place for a stroll. Great businesses and restaurants throughout the main street area. Definitely worth a visit. Make sure to get there early, many shops close at 5 or 6pm 
  • We love the charming buildings and atmosphere but we were disappointed that although many store fronts are decorated, many, many were empty. I don't know what Madison can do to change this but they ne...  more »
