  • I accompanied one of my grand daughters on a tour of the Chazen last summer and found it delightful. There is a surprising collection and extremely well displayed. Our docent was well informed and ple...  more »
  • It is located very centrally located on Campus (in fact, is part of the school of art). The visit is free, and the content is interesting, modern art.

  • Unfortunately owned by the UW, system so that whole insular exclusivity thing going on. They only hire UW students and pay them with school credits. Becoming a member sort of pointless since you don't get any credit, or get listed on the site or anywhere. Still a fairly solid museum, a scattering of good paintings. Good classical music events. This city needs a non-UW museum.
  • Great museum with new art shows seasonally. I always find something new each time I go. The layout can be confusing, but is worth exploring!
  • The Chazen is a beautiful University Art Museum... The UW preserved the existing facility, then built one of equal size with more exciting and functional facilities connected by a sky-bridge. The collection, like many University collections, is eclectic. But it's a huge building, with a great diversity of art displayed well. Plus, since it is a public space, it plays host to lots of UW-sponsored activities... Monthly concerts of high calibre, movie series showings, lectures... It's a vital space, and fun to visit.
  • I can't believe that this museum is in Madison. The collection is fantastic and very well curated.
  • Has some big names in it, pretty cool to see a Warhol in person (There is a slight emphasis on modern art).
