Beautiful area post fire. 4wheels drive recommended for dirt and gravel road. Camp grounds were closed post fire. It was beautiful to see the giant sequoias and the preservation being done there.

April 2, 2021 We had visited the Bull Buck tree a few years ago and decided to revisit it. It's still early spring in the higher elevations which means there is still of old snow pack on many roads.... more

Great place for pristine forest with several sequoia trees including the amazing Bullbuck Tree (included is photo of painting of Bullbuck).

Great place to visit and go for a short walk-a-bout, but the last couple times we have come, there have been misadventures. This most recent visit was after a large wind storm There were a fair amount of fallen and distressed trees. Lots to climb over while walking to the main site but doable.

Amazing place. Great trails. Great history. Great scenery. Great place for dispersed (and site) camping. Wonderful opportunity to find fun and adventure.

I was a trip to Yosemite NP last September (2019); after checking out Maripisa Grove I went to Nelder Grove the next day. The walk to Bullbuck and Chimney trees in a pristine forest is not to be missed. It is uncrowded & truly worth the drive from Fish Camp or Oakhurst. You won't regret the effort!

Probably one of the forgotten gems of the Sierra Nevada mountains. This is a stand just outside Yosemite national park. Beautiful Giant Sequoia trees. Camping usually there is a campground host after Memorial Day. Hiking trails throughout. Nature interpretation center and 1850 log cabins on display. Take the Sky Park Road. Much easier than the way I took to get there.
