  • I thought we were going to see a history of Harriet Tubman. this is not the case. It is just named for her. there are many exhibits that go on here. Since we were mainly here thinking about Harriet Tu...  more »
  • On our visit we were disappointed that there wasn't more info on the amazing namesake of this museum, and at the small amount of African-American Art displayed. Great building, so-so museum.  more »
  • I'm so glad this museum is here, it helped bring home the homeschool lesson. I know there's not a lot of information available on Harriett Tubman, I just would have like to see her exhibit in a nicer ...  more »

  • My 5 year old daughter and I visited this museum while I was in Macon for business. I was afraid that the museum wouldn't be too exciting for her and that she would quickly lose interest. I took her anyway because I thought it would be a good way to introduce her to some historical figures and African American culture. The museum was not a disappointment! We both had a great time. In fact I believe she enjoyed the exhibition more than I did. Also to be noted was how polite, helpful, and informative the staff members were. I would definitely recommend the museum. It's inexpensive and AAA members receive admission at a discounted rate.
  • It's an upgrade from the older place, lots of space and lighting, definitely showcasing the talents of African Americans in the south, also of the entire American culture. The contributions are of the African Americans contributions to freedom of slaves and art relating to that effort. It's a great place for wheelchairs, scooter chairs, as corridors are widely spaced and can cater for these modes of transport. They also cater to school tours.
  • Great learning experience for the family. Great staff and location. Very clean and orderly. Can have guided tour.
  • State of the art design, the building is eye catching and draws the attention it deserves.
  • Very important place that tells the history of slavery in USA in a way that is very accessible.
