  • Built in the 1860's, the lighthouse is filled with history and finished with period pieces. If you like, you can go all the way to the light, though after the second floor it's a narrow spiral stairca...  more »
  • Fun visit and walk to the top of the light house. Great views of the lake and a short hike down to it also. It's free to visit.  more »
  • This lighthouse was unique in that it was privately owned for over 100 years. Having been stripped of its light and the glass enclosure, the upper area was used as a widow's walk type of structure. Th...  more »

  • As a historic lighthouse on the shore of Lake Michigan, It was a guiding light until it's services were no longer needed. The lighthouse was purchased by an individual and remained a residence until recent years. The public can now enjoy this treasure to the fullest. The house is in excellent condition though the original Light Room had been removed. The reproduction unit now on top of the tower is a perfect reproduction. Quality of the experience is one to be shared with generations of visitors. Rumor is the county wants to sell it off to a development firm. That would be a shame. You can't go wrong visiting if you love these Guiding lights of the past.
  • This was the highlight of our trip, the lighthouse is beautiful and is one of the few that allows you inside the actual light of the lighthouse. The surrounding trails are also very interesting and include informative plaques.
  • Awesome lighthouse. Museum on site and also able to climb up it. View is beautiful from the top. Very friendly and informative staff.
  • Quality self-tour. Not overcrowded. Very enjoyable/educational
  • Nicely upkept lighthouse, and the grounds are well manacured, the trail to the point is very cool, a lil bit of a hike but well worth the veiw and the cleanest water I have ever seen in the world. It's our 3rd time going can't wait to go back next year. Best veiws
