#1 of 18 in Historic Sites in Upper Peninsula
Tilt your head back to admire the curved ceiling and attractive motifs at St Anne's Catholic Church, constructed in 1874. The striking white church looks over the water and stands out as Mackinac Island's most prominent religious landmark. • St. Anne's is a significant parish in the history of the area (note: PARISH, not the church itself, which is 19th century new-ish). Founded by the Jesuits in the late 17th century, this was the sole o...  more »

  • We visit St. Anne's Catholic Church every time we visit the Island for a short prayer. And yes, we also review the Stations on the Cross in the small courtyard next to the church.  more »

  • A absolutely beautiful old Catholic Church with a delightful museum in the basement. The church building itself is fantastic and yh main hall is stunning to say the least.
  • Enjoyed the museum and learning the history of the church. It was nice that the museum and gift shop were opened on Sunday
  • We went there years ago, months after my son was diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lympoblastic Leukemia, and we all lite a candle for him. Have been there a few times sense and we always make sure to go in and lite a candle. He was six when he was diagnosed and he is now 15 and healthy as a horse. It is a neat place to go into and will always stop in there with a donation.
  • A beautiful Catholic Church to experience the Light of Christ and celebrate the Eucharist.
  • Beautiful! Don't just pass it by, go in!
