  • My son (8yrs) saw the sign for the zoo and wanted to stop. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for kids. There are 250 animals here. Most of them being snakes and reptiles. My son loved the snakes. We spent...  read more »
  • Great place and very informative. Owner passionate. Family enjoyed it. Lots of things to see year round.
  • I will start with it is a very small Zoo. It is great for small kids. I loved Xena ( I think that was her name) I want to call her a monkey as well, I just wanted to hug her! Her cage mate was Chewy. ...  read more »
  • Made my 4th or 5th trip from the Northern Virginia area to Luray yesterday with my wife and daughter - this time specifically to take my wife through this fascinating place as she'd never been. As usual, most impressed with the level of commitment from the owner (who is very friendly and will answer any and all questions about his animals!) and the young folks working in the zoo. If you find yourself in Luray for any reason and have a couple of hours to kill, this is where you should spend it! Love this place - keep up the great work!
  • We were here in 2013 and were a little disappointed. We realize that it costs a lot of money to maintain a place like this, but, the grounds were sloppy and enclosures were in need of repair. The animals seemed to be well taken care of and there was a nice variety. We ran into a very informative "snake expert" who became more and more arrogant, the longer he talked. I don't recall how much admission was, but, I don't believe it was much and I won't say it's not worth a look. It may have changed since we were there, last, but, we have no intention of going back. If you really love animals, about an hour south on 81(exit 180) is the Natural Bridge Zoo and Safari Park, (Virginia Safari park) which the Mrs. And I have been to twice.
  • I love it here, omg it was literally better than the dc national zoo, ur so up close with these beautiful animals and the owner I believe who spoke with us gave us some insight and it was awesome !! I recommended it to my family and friends whoever visit the luray caverns
  • What a cool place! Took our 2 year old there and she loved everything about it! She loved going "through the alligators mouth" to get inside. It was really interesting to see each of the rescue animals stories. Bella the macaque was by far our favorite animal! She greeted us with a smile and showed us all of her tricks each time we passed by her. The goats were fun to feed and one followed us around almost the whole time. The guy whose path we crossed several times (Mark, I'm guessing) was very knowledgeable and friendly. He kept his distance until we asked questions and then responded with interesting facts. After reading the other reviews, I was prepared for a lecture or rudeness but received the exact opposite! Perhaps it was because we were respectful of the animals and their homes. Our 2 year is very excitable and energetic but when she screamed, we reminded her that screaming would scare the animals and she quieted down. We spent probably 2 hours there and only left because it started raining. We will definitely go back if we're in the area again.
  • The animals were well taken care of and the staff was very friendly. Bella the Macaque was extremely entertaining and my 18 month old daughter a week later is still saying her name.
