  • If you live in Lubbock Texas, you know it is not the most scenic city in the world. However, it is the best place to live in Texas. For us Buffalo Lakes is an oasis. It not really a killer fishing lake, but I fly fish and catch small bass, perch and other species every time we go there. I have been going to the lake all of my life, so I can see the improvements that have taken place through the years. Yes, I am probably bias. When we just need to get away (which is about 3-4 times a week during the summer), we take a small grill and a fly rod and head to Buffalo. As you enter and drive down into the lake, you realize just how pretty the canyons are and the color change. The lake has been utilized well to support a lot of camping areas. There is no wasted space. It's clean, quite, peaceful, especially during the week. We have an annual pass which is reasonable in price. When we just need to take a drive and get out of the house for a change of scenery, buffalo is the perfect place to unwind whether it's spring/summer/fall or winter. It makes living in the flat land more tolerable for us.
  • Went there yesterday and it was amazing! It truly is a little oasis tucked into the canyon in the desert. Definitely will be going again. Only thing is the price is a little steep if you're just going to the beach for the day. They allow pets which is awesome!
  • It is expensive for what you get! The lake is nice fishing is good but camping they charge per person after 2 adults and check out is at 11. Its a lake not a Hotel which I could of had for almost the same price.
  • Love it here. Very relaxing and super k8d friendly. 10 stars for a small lake
  • First of all, very overpriced. Its $10 to get in with a $1 charge for a debit card. I feel like the lake is very underutilized given that there is no where to eat or anything to do unless you want to shell out some serious cash to rent any equipment. Instead of being a nice tourist spot, its just a money hole for the small community that lives down there. If you're looking for a day trip or weekend getaway, I would recommend driving north to Lake Meredith, Palo Duro, Caprock Canyon, or down south to Lake Alan Henry.
