Despite a death in the pits at the speedway several weeks after opening, on June 16, 1948, the track continued operation. • It's a fun family place to hang out at during a weekend race. Bus races and figure eights are really fun to watch.
  • We went over the weekend with three 7 year olds and adults from 35-55 and everyone had a good time! Price was reasonable in my opinion. We sat in the family section so no alcohol or smoking allowed wh...  more »
  • Always a family friendly fun time. Started going 1-2 times each summer several years ago. Boys always ask "when are we going". Thank you for the memories :-)

  • Great fun for the family. I recommend going on special event nights like nigh of thrills, trailer race, boat race, etc. My kids love it. The only reason I gave it four stars is because it can be quite pricey for a family to go to one of these events. Make sure you are aware of the pricing before you attend.
  • I love Rockford Speedway and wish I went there more often. It feels very down home. They do a great job with bringing in big events as well as quality weekly shows. I especially recommend the National Short Track Championship held in late September/early October which is usually my last race I attend each year. The concessions are quality and very affordable compared to other sports venues in the Chicagoland area. Ignore the petty complaints in the other reviews, this is a top notch short track.
  • Awesome paved short-track auto racing. Cheap tap beer. $2 bills and half-dollar coins for given change. Great fun!!!
  • Tried to come here and enjoy the speed way but it's hard to do when everyone around you was smoking in the nonsmoking section. Went down there times and complained to three different security people. One security ticket taker was unaware that section G was a no alcohol section but said it was the only non smoking section. I took a picture of the non smoking sign that said G, H, and J. Out of 26 letters out of the three thay we got was for non smoking, this should habe been better respected. Will not be coming back!!!
  • Have some good programs. But I think the motto of the speedway is If it ain't broke don't fix it. Long unorganized concession lines. Best to order your tickets in advance because I have seen very very long lines to get in on special event nights.
