(4/5 based on 1,000+ reviews on the web)
In 54 hectares (134 acres) of natural setting, The Louisville Zoo houses 1,700 different mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds, fish, and invertebrates. This zoo was one of the first ones in the world to introduce rotating exhibits--where animals are moved throughout different habitats in order to have a better quality of life. Stroll through themed exhibits, such as a gorilla forest and a glacier town. See rare animals, such as an albino alligator. Take a train ride, or climb and balance on ropes above the zoo at an attraction for children and families. You can also interact with the zookeepers and learn about the animals. • I have spent hours and hours at the zoo. It is a great place to come walk and relax. Especially with the member exclusive hours that they offer it is a great place to come and get exercise without it seeming like work. I purchased a membership, and it was one of the best purchases that I made this year.
  • This is a rather nice city zoo. Be prepared to walk! Attractively built into the hilly area in a tiered path. Working on improvements and lots of conservation activity. They also do nice evening events during the summer. Happy to be a Zoo supporter.
  • We've had family passes for years. Our kids love seeing the animals. It never gets old.
  • Wonderful zoo, nice biodiversity and habitats. Staff leave something to be desired. Also, no lids for fountain drinks. I imagine this is to minimize littering, but still unfortunate. Would like better variety of food options. One corner of the zoo has a bbq-like smokehouse, another has a gourmet burger stop, and the restaurant with most choices is right next to the entrance. Not ideal for folks with picky children. Still, best zoo I've been to.
  • A great family friendly experience. The animals are well cared for and the keepers and docents are knowledgeable and kind. I just wish they didn't have the pushy "photo taker" at the entrance. The new polar bear exhibit is fantastic and the elephants seem to love their new space as well.
