Specialty Museum Museum
Kentucky Derby Museum features two floors of artifacts and interactive displays that celebrate what some consider the most exciting two minutes in sports. Your first stop in the museum is the 360-degree theater, which screens the film "The Greatest Race." You're then welcome to explore the two floors on your own. Check out the interactive exhibit that allows you to record yourself announcing races with the assistance of a prompter screen. Or view the collection of Derby hats that have graced the heads of race goers since the opening of the track. • Could not visit Louisville and not go to the Churchill Downs Derby Museum. The film on the Derby history was fascinating. The tour was interesting and our guide was good. After taking this tour, it's ...  more »
  • It was an just ok Museum. The best thing about it was the 360 screen that they show a very good film on. The rest of the museum is very sparse.I think there must be much more information???  more »

  • I enjoyed the tour when I went with my niece and we got to see a horse at the end which was neat for her, I think it was the first horse she'd seen. The museum was neat but not something I'd revisit after going once. There are a couple interactive things but they were for older kids than my niece so we didn't really do them. Other than that there are some neat displays of silks and hats. There's a whole wall of derby shot glasses. It's probably just me but I saw enough just going once. I would like to have had a chance to see the movie in the museum but our tour time was starting and after the tour it was time for her nap. I recommend to all horse and race lovers!
  • If you have the pleasure of watching the race and getting some history I hope you have the Head of Security tell you some stories. I'm from Louisville and this guy did an awesome job. Will definitely visit again
  • What a wonderful experience! The staff was so friendly, and the museum is a real jewel. Definitely plan on coming back.
  • Great value! Great tour. Very informative. I learned a lot and had fun.
  • One of my favorite places in the country. This is interesting and inspiring. If you like horses, horse racing and the thrill of the win, don't miss this. We are in their cafe, and the food was very good.
