Our group walked here from our hotel and enjoyed the vibe of fun, active eating and drinking. We mostly had pizza and beer and it was relaxed and easy.
Nice concept, outdoors but covered from the elements. Good choice of bars and restaurants but beware most places close very early during the week so it is not really a weeknight hot spot, by 10pm its ... read more »

This place is hit or miss depending on your age and personal interest on what kind of scene you want to enjoy. There is a wide range of people from all different ages, social classes, personal styles. It has great potential and could be a world class spot for entertainment. But it's going downhill. It's so popular of a bar scene that everyone coming to Louisville, as well as people who live in the outside counties all come here. Every 21 year old birthday party, bachelor and Bachelorette party, all the way to your lower class drunks and ignorant people just coming out to find a hookup. It is pretty sloppy, and I've seen too many drunk drivers downtown leaving the bars. I work at a close hotel and we are always getting guests who come back asking for better places to go saying that 4th street is lame, boring, or just dirty. Which is such a let down because it has a great potential to be such an awesome place. THE TAVERN is a great social place to have a few drinks and play some games. SPORTS & SOCIAL CLUB is a great place to come and watch the big match on any of the huge televisions. They're always having some fun games or events going on as well. So I rate this venue a solid 3 stars because it does have some good attractions and hosts some great musicians and events. They are steadily making changes and it is getting nicer and nicer. But if you are a mature adult wanting a good time with other responsible people and not much crazy unnecessary drama, then this is not where you want to go to enjoy your evening.
I really wasn't a big fan of this place. Seemed like this was the only happening place in all of Louisville, yet I didn't feel like it was deserving enough for us to spend too much time there. Too many drunk people and too loud. The worst thing was the cover charge of $10/person because there was some concert going on. I understand the cover for the concert but they closed off the whole middle section and didn't let anyone enter without paying, which also blocked off access to 5-6 restaurants. Definitely not worth it. If there is no event going on and if you can enter the area without paying, I'd say it's a good place to grab some drinks. I definitely don't think there are any good food options here.
One of the cooler lively areas in downtown Louisville. Lots of bars - Goose Island Bridge and Eddie Merlots were my favourite and we often ate at GBs. Weekend cover charge became a bit dull very quickly. Also beware for ID checks and drunk college kids on the weekends.
The idea of fourth street live is amazing---a covered block of entertainment, food, and drink. Lately some local gems have moved into the space, primarily occupied by national chains. If the trend of making this a haven of local food, drink, and entertainment continues - - - this will remain a must stop destination for tourists and locals alike. A few shout outs to the Urban Stillhouse, Goose Island beer bridge, and Birra Cibo. Have never had much issue getting down here as far as parking is concerned; however, be prepared for the usual ID checks, covers, and drunken college kids on the weekends.
Great attraction and a must see in the summer and the weekends. Full of adult entertainment and nightlife. Great spots to eat as well for the whole family.
