Create an itinerary including Conrad-Caldwell House Museum (Conrad's Castle)
The Conrad-Caldwell House Museum is located at the heart of Old Louisville, one of the largest Victorian neighborhoods in the nation. Situated at the corner of Magnolia Avenue and St James Court, the Museum stands as one of the finest buildings in the area. Remarkable in its completeness as a Victorian structure, this building was created with the finest craftsmanship and design, and contained all the latest innovations for its time. It has been lovingly restored and brought back to life as a family home circa 1908, when the Caldwell family lived here. It now is open for tours Wednesday through Sunday, and by appointment. The mansion contains antiques appropriate to the era, including many of the original pieces from the Conrad and Caldwell families. We enjoy the continued involvement of the Caldwell family, one of the things which sets us apart from other historic homes, and makes it seem much more a “home” than a museum.

As a non-profit organization with 501(c)3 status, The Conrad-Caldwell House Museum relies on your support in order to survive. While we are able to generate some income with our tours and rentals, we do ask that you consider making a donation to the Museum in order to ensure our continued success.

Office hours are Tuesday - Saturday 10 - 4 and Sunday 12 - 4. Tours are Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday 1 & 3 PM, and Saturday 11, 1 & 3, or by appointment.

  • Had the pleasure of touring the Conrad-Caldwell Home today. I was amazed on the preservation of this beautiful Victorian mansion. The Caldwell granddaughters are active volunteers and provide first hand accounts and memories from the home that provides a truly unique experience in this home. I felt like a guest as opposed to a tourist. Huge thanks to Barb who truly made my visit extra special. While this home is truly amazing, it was the love and attention of the volunteers that left me most in awe.
  • The tour was fabulous! Our guide was a Caldwell granddaughter and had great family stories and lots to say about the house. I’m a fan of old houses and have toured quite a few. This one is nice, but felt a little sterile to me. There’s some really cool woodwork and more space than a lot houses from the late 19th century. The house is nice and you should see it, but it was the guide that made it a 5 star experience.
  • Such an incredible experience. The house is beautiful and the tour guides are so engaging. The guide I had was a descendent of the second family that lived in the house. Great tour and they allow you to take as many pictures as you’d like. Definitely worth the visit.
  • Amazing home in Old Louisville which is America's largest Victorian neighborhood. 48 blocks of these houses. This one is especially fantastic. Make a visit here highly recommended. Can't say it enough.
  • Beautifully maintained and preserved mansion in the historic section of old Louisville. The tour is only $12 and lasts for an full hour. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The architecture of the house is stunning. I highly recommend.
