  • Fun racetrack, especially considering it's the home of the Kentucky Derby. Great food court, lots of places to place an easy bet. Such a shame on the day we went no one got dressed up. Perhaps I've been spoilt by Royal Ascot and the Hong Kong Jockey Club.
  • Downs after Dark was fun, especially for a first timer. College crowd social drinking. People watching fun, betting easy. Food court nice, good selection. Time changing in this area got us, so we missed a bit. Take advantage of golf carts in parking lot giving rides to gate. Follow signs to PARKING LOT 10.
  • First time at a horse race. Good venue and I can see how it can be exciting. But I felt bad about how the jockeys may whip the horse to make it go faster.
  • We went on a tour of the Derby area through the museum. It was a great experience full of interesting knowledge that one wouldn't gleen from just attending a race day. I have a renewed respect and adoration of horse racing thanks to the Kentucky Derby Museum.
  • Watch your pocketbooks, especially during the derby. Also, make sure you have cash for drinks and betting. Also, start making your way out before the derby ends to get a good spot for a cab or uber pickup. I suggest the Starbucks near the bridge.
