Platte River State Park is a state park of Nebraska, USA, situated on the southern bluffs above the Platte River. It is located 3mi west of Louisville, Nebraska, and midway between Omaha and Lincoln. The park has a relatively steep, rolling topography compared to the surrounding region. Combined from several different areas, the park consists of 418acre and most of it is forested. Two observation towers provide views of the Platte River valley, the taller of which rises 85ft above its base. The park is located near several other tourist attractions including Eugene T. Mahoney State Park, the Strategic Air and Space Museum, the Conservation Park and Wildlife Safari, and several golf courses.RecreationThe park has a swimming pool and tennis courts, as well as 10mi of hiking trails. Guided trail rides are available daily during the summer. A small lake provides fishing opportunities for people 15 years old and under, and visitors can also rent paddleboats; however, private boats are not permitted on the lake. A small restaurant is open during the summer and there is also a rentable year-round facility which can accommodate up to 150 people. The park has a visitor center with several exhibits, and a free family friendly movie is provided at an outdoor amphitheater on Saturdays during the summer. An arts and crafts center has experts that teach basic leatherwork and ceramics. 135 picnic tables and over 80 grills are scattered throughout the park. There is also a ballfield. • There is an observation tower to climb. There ver tinny waterfall. The trail to the waterfall is poorly maintained and not handicapped accessible. The waterfall itself is anticlimactic.  more »
  • I took my grandchildren there and their favorite thing was finding insects in the ponds! Platte River has a fabulous program where a Naturalist takes the kids and explains to them about all the bugs.  more »

  • Sharply defined forrested bluffs and sparkling man-made lake, create the perfect setting for this rustic park. A repurposed summer camp, the current State owned facility features myriad of day use options; swimming and boating, picnicking, hiking, horseback riding, hunting and fishing, along with a signature lofty tower with large platform at the top offering a 360° view of park and river. Camping and cabins available for families or groups. Admission fee $
  • this place has a lot going on. The observation tower is great for when you just want to experience a hill, but can't find one anywhere close by. There's camping available, as well as fun cottages. The hikes are actually kinda challenging because of the rough terrain. Tough but fun! The water falls are great for a photoshoot. This is def a park you'll keep returning to and always get to do something different.
  • Love this place!!! Forests, hiking, boating (during the summer), camping (tent, cabin, RV, tee pee), picnic area, a hidden gem of a creek with a picturesque mini fall, summer dining/ restaurant. Find the time to visit.
  • Great accommodations in cabin rentals; kitchen fully stocked with dishes, cookware, toaster, and coffee pot. Bedrooms and linens clean and tidy. Can't wait to book another visit!
  • We stayed the weekend! Went fishing, horse back riding and had a great time!! I love the fact that you can have your own cabin and they're not squashed together so you have your own area also!
