Legion State Park is public recreation area located on the north edge of the city of Louisville, Mississippi, and adjacent to Tombigbee National Forest. As Legion State Park Historic District, the state park entered the National Register of Historic Places in 1998. It is managed by the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks.
The park is one of the original Mississippi state parks developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s. The CCC began creating the park in October 1934; it opened the public in July 1937. It includes the Legion Lodge, a hand-hewn log structure that has remained unaltered since its construction.
The park features fishing on two small lakes, primitive and developed campsites, cabins and cottages, a 1.6mi nature trail, picnic area, and CCC-era visitors center. Put Legion State Park at the forefront of your travel plans using our Louisville sightseeing planning website.

Was here with family, we utilized the hiking trail around the very small lake. Trail was challenging with lots of ups and downs. This would have been more fun on bikes. They have very few RV sites...

Great place to stop for a picnic. Quiet secluded and with great trails that have little labels for some of the plants and trees that are locally cultivated.

The park itself was quiet and peaceful. However, the camp site was not maintained. There were cigarette butts everywhere, standing water, trash in the fire pit and the asphalt was in bad shape. We were in the lower end of the campground, site 12. The asphalt in the higher end of the campground looked better.

I would give it a 5 if the beds/mattresses were comfortable. Very quiet and great price!

My husband and I rented a cabin for 2 nights here at Legions State Park. We stayed in cabin 5. It was perfect for us. Small, cozy, very rustic with a stone fireplace and a nice porch. This cabin overlooked a beautiful lake. This time of the year the leaves were beautiful fall colors and it was nice and cool. We had a nice fire going both nights. We did bring our on firewood. I suggest a full size memory foam for bed too because the one in cabin isn't real comfortable. The kitchen had electric stove and microwave, some dishes, pots and silverware and a coffee maker. We brought our own bed linens but the bed was made in the cabin. It did have bathroom soaps, wash clothes and towels, but we also brought our own. The park is well kept. The ranger at the front was so nice. We walked to the lodge, it was nice and the bridges at the lake. Took some pretty pictures there. It was the perfect getaway for us to unplug and relax. We enjoyed the cabin, the park, the town of Louisville, and meeting the friendly people Louisville.

It's about a 2 mile run on pavement. They charge $2 to run in the park. As a runner, I wasn't that impressed. It's probably a good place to walk if you live in the area.
