Carhartt Vineyard, Los Olivos
(4.6/5 based on 75 reviews on the web)
The ten-acre Carhartt Vineyard sits high on a mesa with maximum sun exposure and a soil structure that lends itself to the production of outstanding fruit. Planted in 1996, the vineyard is situated in the heart of the Santa Ynez Valley appellation (AVA), blessed with a climate that is particularly suited to Rhône and Bordeaux varietals. The cool mornings quickly move into hot, sunny days that remain warm until sundown. The growing season is long, often stretching into late November, which allows the grapes to fully ripen and achieve their optimal balance of sugars, acids and spicy flavors.
Carhartt Vineyard is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our world travel planner, Los Olivos Edition.

  • First came here here years ago when it was another tasting room. Have been a wine club member for years and we just love their intimate little back patio which is a world unto itself. All staff is fun...  more »
  • The man pouring wines for the tasting didn't tell us anything about them, and while the location was pretty, the experience fell short.
  • In Los Olivos, California there is a Main Street where most of the tasting rooms are. This is the first one on the street. Very unassuming looking from the outside, but very cozy and pleasant when you...  more »
  • Excellently cool place, like a friends classy back garden with amazing wines, delivered with great passion and knowledge. A gem of a place even when busy. Also great merch!
  • This was a quaint and lively tasting room, with all reds when we went. It's the first one on your left when you turn into Los Alivos.
  • My wife and I took a trip down Highway 1 recently and on our 'relax' day we hit a spa, some great restaurants, and a few tasting rooms. Carhartt Vineyard happened to be one of them and it has an amazingly small are in the front (seats 3 with room for a couple to stand) and a nice looking back area. This was our final taste before heading into Santa Barbara for dinner and to the hotel we were staying at and really was a lot of fun. The host was friendly, knowledgeable, and did a good job at juggling her time between us and the other couple that was in the room. I kind of wish we had a chance to do our tasting in the patio area though it was full when we came through. The sampling was for six wines though I do believe we had closer to 9 fills (couldn't tell you if this was standard practice or if they just had a friendly staff on hand.) All of them tasted good and we ended up grabbing a bottle of the Chase the Blues Away Rose to go. Fun little stop!
  • We visit the Santa Ynez Valley monthly for our wine tasting day trip. We rotate memberships, dropping one and adding another frequently. But, Carhartt is one of our permanent lineup. Great wine, great staff, and such a fun back patio turns into the after party of Los Olivos, as they stay open a couple hours after every other tasting room closes, and the blast the classic rock.
  • Simply put.... just a really cool, relaxed, fun time! The back patio is small, but a lot of fun! The service was fantastic btw... fun and felt genuinely welcomed!
