  • Lovely place! Lots of trains to see and things to explore. The entry is free and it’s a very interesting and visual place for children. My son enjoyed exploring the trains, you can go on board and...  more »

  • Great free museum. You can probably skip the train ride which is just a loop around the yard with not particularly good views. (Southern railroad at Griffith Park is a much more enjoyable ride. Visit here for sure, but if you’re waffling about which train to ride, pick that one.) The old engines are great and fun to see. Wish you could enter a higher percentage of the old engines and cars because that’s definitely the highlight of this place.
  • This is a good attempt to preserve and present a part of the West’s train heritage. It’s relatively a small place with a few train collections but the grounds which are ample enough to accommodate kids on a field trip compensate for it. If you’ve been to the Sacramento Railroad museum, you might be disappointed between the disparity of the exhibits - but hey, this place offers free visits so give it some credit. I recommend this to kids especially if you’re around the Griffith Park area, check it out, bring some snacks and have fun!
  • Stopped in and found that this place wasn’t what I was expecting. Seems like a good place to take the kids for a bit but not very big. As soon as we entered we weren’t even sure where to go. Probably great if you’re really into trains.
  • Travel Town is a super (and free!) attraction for train enthusiasts, both young and old. It is a compact attraction with room for kids to explore. We visited on a Sunday morning and it was not crowded and there was plenty of parking, too. The kids loved exploring the various trains including many of the hands-on attractions. We also enjoyed a train ride around the park, which came with a reasonable cost. There is a picnic area that has some vending machines. There is a cute museum shop that sells train-themed items, at prices comparable to similar retail outlets.
  • Was my favorite place as a child & still one of my favorite places as an adult. Although the rest of Los Angeles is a mecca for the criminals & the homeless, TravelTown retains its unique character and charm as one one America's few places to actually climb into a real locomotive. That's right , at Travel Town one can actually feel what it is like to be in the cab of an historic Iron Horse. Get here soon B4 GOD decides to send this city to the ash heap of history like he did to Sodom & Gomorrah!
