  • Nestled in the midst of old & new LA, you stumble across one of the most influential libraries on the West Coast. OK, you can Google the historic patents housed here, but you must visit to be touched ...  more »
  • Great place to sit and read a book, in Maguire Garden, if you can find an empty bench that is not claimed by a homeless person. It is a pretty landscaped area, with paths for strolling or a not so sec...  more »
  • Entrance to the library is free and open to all comers, but outside you can see many interesting things. In the fountain on the way to the "living" statue-skeletons of living creatures: from the malorazumnyh of amphibians to the more advanced beings: the higher the level of the ladder, the better they are at the stage of evolution. And on the stairs marked inscriptions in different languages: from the most ancient to the contemporary; the letters and characters, signs and symbols, equations and integrals, there are even Braille and PI.

  • A good place to sit and relax while reading a book. There is a ton of resources for people to use and many floors of books and records. I was impressed by the architecture and the amount of variety of books and topics. Plus there is a convenient Panda Express which was clean tasted good. I would recommend going here.
  • Los Angeles loves its libraries. In an era where libraries are becoming a thing of the past Los Angeles has embraced them. West Hollywood has a brand new one and this one in downtown Los Angeles Aldo looks like vintage architecture from the outside is pure modern inside. Their Video Collection is unsurpassed and the staff are incredibly helpful. Anything you need can be found at this Library. If you're a tourist it's a must-see.
  • Beautiful, and lots of resources for job hunting; however, very dangerous, lots of homeless with mental health issues. They invade your personal space, I never go inside there without having my pepper spray ready, unlocked, and in my hand. Homeless people barricade themselves in handicap restroom stalls and stay there all damn day, I saw a women with a blender making a smoothie in the restroom; and another time I caught a woman watching me through a crack as I washed my hands... it was weird. Homeless men hit on you and think if you are a woman, you are waiting for them to be your poo poo stained, funky ass knight and shining amor. If you are a woman be extremely cautious and only sit close to staff and have protection like pepper spray and after I was followed into the restroom by some pervert, I wouldn't go to the restroom alone unless it is close to the entrance with a policeman posted by the door
  • Amazing place to learn and explore. My daughter loves the children's section where they can read and play as well!
  • Spacious and quiet. Great place to study or get some work done. No drinks allowed (except water)

Where to stay in Los Angeles

Los Angeles may be synonymous with luxury, but its accommodations include not only some of the most opulent and expensive hotels in the world, but also budget-priced hostels and inexpensive inns. In Los Angeles, a car opens up a world of lodging options, allowing you to stay outside the city proper and still have easy access to most major tourist attractions. If you don't mind splurging, consider Hollywood or Beverly Hills. To save money, stay near the airport or in the eastern suburbs of the city.
