The Grove, Los Angeles

Built around the old LA Farmers' Market, The Grove has become one of Los Angeles' most popular outdoor malls. Built in 2002, the open-space mall carries a wide range of products and eateries popular with locals and tourists alike. Check out the Farmers' Market, which originally opened in 1934 and still contains over 100 eateries and grocery stores. If you're looking for a healthy treat, you will find plenty of organic and gluten-free food. The mall also contains a large multiplex cinema as well as many flagship stores. Make sure to take a ride on the old-fashioned tram that carries passengers between the market and the main mall complex. • Beautiful place with the lights and the family feeling. Just a short walk from farmers market, it is equipped with many stores. For food, make sure to step into the food section at the farmers market and grab fresh produce or a huge bag of popcorn from one of the many vendors there. Go back to the walking streets and take beautiful pictures for free. This place was a real treat.
  • My wife and I really enjoyed walking through the Grove. Even though we were there mid November it was beautifully decorated for Christmas. There were numerous options for eating and a lot of great stores to shop at. When we are back in Los Angeles we will definitely be returning to the Grove especially if it's during the holiday season again.
  • I love this place. You can park for 90 minutes free and just get a validation from Coffee Bean. Awesome Christmas tree and lights display period every night at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. they turn on the fake snow machines. My daughter loves it. It's awesome
  • The last resort in Mid Wilshire. There is nothing else you can go here in town for shopping, eating, watching movies, strolling, walking, time-killing, drinking coffee, and eating ice cream at the same time. That’s why there are so many people (USUALLY WITH KIDS!). A great place to hang out with family. Parking is not free but not expensive. The only downside is there are only limited food options. You have the farmers market nearby, but their food is not so good either. Just OK food. You can eat for a meal. Other than that the Grove is fine.
  • A very busy outdoor mall. This is an upscale place with nice stores and a nice center walkway. It was just after Christmas when we went there so the Christmas lights are up and they were really cool. The parking garage is really tight and busy so plan ahead and be careful trying to park. One thing we found out is if you park in the Grove parking lot you can't get validated from restaurants in the Farmers Market.

Where to stay in Los Angeles

Los Angeles may be synonymous with luxury, but its accommodations include not only some of the most opulent and expensive hotels in the world, but also budget-priced hostels and inexpensive inns. In Los Angeles, a car opens up a world of lodging options, allowing you to stay outside the city proper and still have easy access to most major tourist attractions. If you don't mind splurging, consider Hollywood or Beverly Hills. To save money, stay near the airport or in the eastern suburbs of the city.
