  • The LA Zoo has changed in a lot in the last decade, however, the space is so large that it still has a lot of updating to do. I would say that less than 5% of the space has been renovated, because it ...  more »
  • We always try to a zoo when we’re on vacation and as far as zoos go it’s pretty good I think it up there with the St. Louis zoo and the Omaha zoo. Lots of places to get something to eat and drink and ...  more »
  • We had a wonderful time at the LA Zoo. The grounds are very nice and clean. The animals seemed to be well cared for. Quite possibly the longest time we ever spent at the zoo, 6 hours in total as there...  more »

  • Went to the LA Zoo night lights and have to say it was better then I anticipated. Family and I attended the zoo during the day and bought tickets for the Night Lights. Night Lights is extremely well priced if you already have a zoo membership. Lots of lights to see in a unique way to see them. Very well set up for families or the date night. Lots of food, hot chocolate and alcohol stops along the walk. You get to see some animals and lots of lights. The twinkle tunnel is a must do. When you go be sure to do the early showing, it gives you more time to see the lights. My only negative is it is very crowded so do not plan on rushing through, plan to take two hours to view everything. Really great opportunity for all ages!
  • Most hard to navigate zoo I have ever been too. I realize it's a smaller zoo and they are using every nook and cranny to fill with exhibits and animals but come on...you would think someone in their right mind would make it easier to find and see things with adequate signs. The maps are no help. The signs on the paths are minimal and when you follow it in the direction it points you to get to a specific animal, you never get there!!! Once you head down a path, now that path will split off in 2 or 3 different directions with no signs to continue you on path to see that animal you wanted. Everyone seemed lost, confused and disoriented. I've been to many zoos in my lifetime both big and small as a 1st time visitor and had no trouble. My suggestion...invest on some signs for your guests. It literally felt like you led us around confused on purpose so it would take us longer to get through so we'd stay longer. We gave up and left.
  • What an amazing experience! I was a bit cynical going into it based on what I had heard from others, but we just LOVED the LA Zoo! The atmosphere was so pleasant, the exhibits were well maintained and the zoo was well cared for. My family and I had a great time. The gorillas were especially captivating. Thanks for the memories!
  • I was here for the Zoo Lights during the Christmas season. The line looked frightening but it moved fast and we had a great time. Get your tickets early they do sell out and try to come before winter break for the kids and you’ll avoid the crowds. Parking is free but it does fill up fast so get here early. The tunnel of lights is a must and don’t forget to get your holiday drinks at by the entrance.
  • Time to close the zoo, it has been about 10 years since I have been there, the animal enclosures are bare, no foliage, animals are board, several enclosures closed but public was not told, (How about a sign in front of the enclosure that explains why it is closed. Animals look pitiful. The alligator enclosure is the first thing you see, and it is pretty sad, no room for the alligators. Way too much money for nothing, how about spending that money on the animals. My 6 yr old who loves these animals did not enjoy at all, I kept watching for the look of excitement..................Never was there.

Where to stay in Los Angeles

Los Angeles may be synonymous with luxury, but its accommodations include not only some of the most opulent and expensive hotels in the world, but also budget-priced hostels and inexpensive inns. In Los Angeles, a car opens up a world of lodging options, allowing you to stay outside the city proper and still have easy access to most major tourist attractions. If you don't mind splurging, consider Hollywood or Beverly Hills. To save money, stay near the airport or in the eastern suburbs of the city.
