  • I loved the Los Angeles Central Library, peace of mind, excellent place to read and spend your time too. Had visited this place in June 2015.
  • The central library is a landmark historical building. Last time in order to keep the original character, the big addition went down in stead of went up. Inside of the building you will not feel it is...  read more »
  • This library is beautiful. It's worth just going to visit for a day, especially if you have kids. It also has many many books, but even if you're not planning to take out any books, just exploring the...  read more »
  • I have no memories of ever visiting the main branch of New York City's Public Library system so I would say this is the largest public library I've ever been to. Seattle's main branch would be the next biggest one. I was surprised at how small the library cafe section is compared to the rest of the building. They have a Panda Express, a TCBY, and a smoothie place. The food hours are quite limited but you can usually buy something from all 3 places before 4 PM except maybe on Sundays. Not all the food establishments close this early, however. You just have to double check their schedule if you feel like eating inside this library. They have a nice but small library store. I also think the customer service from both the male and female reference librarians is noticeably better than from a certain WASP looking female law reference librarian at the LA Law Library that I've had the misfortune to meet more than once! On the last Tuesday of the month between noon and 3 PM they host homeless services such as helping transients get valid ID and so forth. So, if you don't like the smells, sounds, and sights of homeless people then you know when to avoid the Central Library. I was impressed with their International Section of foreign languages. This branch is within easy walking distance of 2 Metro stations, Pershing Square and 7th Street. If you get off at Pershing Square then you have an uphill walk. It is a flat walk from the 7th Street Metro station. You could also take a bus there from either Metro station if you don't feel like hoofing it.
  • Monday August 29 2016 Today, I was kicked out unjustly out of the Los Angeles Central Library, a paranoid/mentally ill old lady, started accusing me of staring at her????? Security came and even though the witness was in my favor & even though the old lady even starting attacking the witness, This hispanic american security guard at the Central Library started focusing on me, as if I was the problem and asked me to move, I refused, I told him, so he escorted me out, I did tell him, just because you can do this does not make it right, might does not make right, you are making the wrong decision, but guess what he wouldn't give up his pride and kicked me out, there was a lower level supervisor there, but he still ok, the officer on kicking me out, I will be back tomorrow, bright and early to take this issue to the main supervisor. Clearly the security guards at the Los Angeles Central Library do what they want, regarless if it's right or wrong and their leadership backs them up on this kind of behaviour, there is no check & balances system here????? ~~~~~~~~~~~
  • They have the latest books, evth's good BUT homeless people snore and eat in the library! Some of them talk on the cell phones! Some listen to the music so loud that you can not even concentrate and focus! And do not forget that some people may have TB or other diseases which can be very dangerous for other people!!! And that is horrible!!!!!!! I think that you have to do something with that. And a lot of people would really appreciate that. Thank you.
  • Very nice, has the latest best selling books, but the homless go in the front lawn instead of the la misson and rarely parking is avalible. I would kind of recommend this for kids to go but a lot of the homeless smoke in the entreance so..... yeah
  • Beautiful building but very difficult to find quiet & concentrate - wish police/security could do something to encourage people to respect the no music/no loud talking etc.
