Hollywood & Highland, Los Angeles

Categories: Gift & Specialty Shops, Shopping
Inspirock Rating:
4/5 based on 280+ reviews on the web
Shop ‘til you drop at the shopping mecca of Hollywood & Highland, one of the most frequented attractions in the city. The center is home to two theatres--of note is the Dolby Theatre, the host of the annual Academy Awards. Over 70 shops, two nightclubs, several restaurants, a movie theatre, and a bowling alley also call the complex home. The centerpiece of the complex is a massive archway, modeled to be an exact replica of the one seen in the Babylon scene from the movie "Intolerance." Put Hollywood & Highland into our Los Angeles trip generator and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

  • I went in that Hollywood sign visible from here. Not many people go to the Hollywood Boulevard tourist, or rather standard Hollywood Boulevard tourist area and parked cars in the underground parking lot from? In the complex commercial Mall shopping and stores are a lot of restaurants.

  • While you walk around Hollywood and enjoy searching for the star of your favorite celebrity in the walk of fame, you can stop and grab a bite in any of the sit-down- restaurants; or shop. You can see ...  read more »

  • Great place just outside universal studios. There are good places for getting souvenirs which are rather expensive inside universal. There are quite a lot eateries here. Great place to relax after spending the entire day at universal.
  • Kitsch. Must to see. A lot of shops, a lot of restaurants ( several times i had to eat there none of them was shockingly good. However decent food.) Over crowded. Scenery is great.
  • It was a cool place but was very crowded. Also at points of time we didn't feel real safe. There are people that give you a cd and then they want to autograph it. Then they expect money. When you give them their cd back. They aren't to happy with you. The Chinese theatre is really cool but could care less about the stars. Another cool part is mall near the Chinese Theatre. Another cool aspect is the street performers. It is easy to get to the subway from there.
  • A oot of fun here. The most turist place of Hollywood. Must come once in your life. During the day its all turist at night its all about club.
  • Compared to the Hollywood Boulevard that I grew up to know as the only Hollywood Blvd. I knew this one doesn’t quite match up with when it comes to stuff I used to know. Like everything in tourist America that attracts China's and Europes well off there is a pile of glitz, glamor and neighborhood street kids trying to pull the "Take my CD" Con covering the Jonny Rocket Fueled streets. The police are always a presence and nothing more which is nice unless your the kind of person who enjoys the company of women of the night and in that case I'd recommend sticking to craigslist because the only pretty woman walking around here will be dressed in high heels with an Adams apple and bigger shoe size then you. Hollywood lied to us all. They seem to be pioneers of trends that I'm sure will soon be hitting the marketplace all over America soon with the store selling souvenirs which their sidewalk advertising crew will tell you (by yelling in your face while you pass them): "Everything is five bucks! " A far cry from the dollar stores I knew as the best bang for mine but I'm sure if I look hard enough in here I will find a gun to put to my head and do the same. The retired Vietnam veterans still have a place on every corner with just enough room for their bottle of Cisco and pack of class B tar sticks to feel comfortable but there time is running out by the new generation of Iraq Veterans quickly moving in to take their place. The Mann Chinese is so over the top now with street performers and Hollywood club kids trying to curb their impending withdrawals by walking out of their nearby house and spitting out lines from popular movies in the hopes for a little coin to fill their spandex pockets in return. I don't even know who's stars I was walking, ashing or stepping on past the ones who's place in the concrete lay down by la Brea next to the frozen yougert place and smoke shop. Eg. Don Knotts .... You can never get enough Don Knotts... ... Never.
