Flight Path Learning Center And Museum, Los Angeles

4.8
Unique among the fine aviation museums in Southern California is the Flight Path Learning Center, the only aviation museum and research center situated at a major airport and the only facility with a primary emphasis on contributions of civil aviation to the history and development of Southern California.

The Flight Path exhibits gallery, filled with memories of aviation’s golden years, is adjacent to the LAX airfield, where today’s aircraft and travelers arrive and depart the world’s busiest origin and destination airport. No other museum offers such a perspective on contemporary aircraft and aviation.

  • A terrific look at the airline industry and the people behind it. Highly recommended for anyone interested in civil aviation and the history of LAX. Be sure to go out and go aboard the DC-3 too!
  • I came here with my family and for anyone who has an interest in aviation this is a must! The staff are so passionate and easy to talk it makes for fun conversations. Many have ex cabin crew, pilots, enthusiasts or airport employees. You can pick up great merchandise here too! Fantastic little place
  • What a wonderfull place , the staff were warm and friendly, and the exhibits were amazing . Highly recomended
  • Flight Path Learning Center is a great location to soak in a wide range of aviation history. There is a great deal of commercial aircraft memorabilia, including pins, luggage, suits and uniforms. A slew of models show a wide range of plane and planes types. The center is made of of many rooms, making it a delight to explore each and take your time. They also have a historic DC-3 outside, which you can go inside, sit down in - even in the cockpit! This is a learning center, and to further support that they offer Flight Sim training, with an impressive number of computers to support students. Pro tip - take some cash with you. Although it's free, they do ask for donations. Take some cash so you can give to this great center.
  • This is a hidden gem in Los Angeles. You will learn about the history of commercial flight as well as about the history of LAX. They have an old Douglas DC-3 with corporate interior. You can go inside and see what traveling was like back then. You also get to go outside onto the tarmac, which gives you great views of the airport and planes taking off or taxing to the terminal. They have a ton of old airline uniforms on display. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They explain you everything if you have questions. Impressive is also the big library inside with tons of books about aviation and even operation manuals of aircrafts.

Where to stay in Los Angeles

Los Angeles may be synonymous with luxury, but its accommodations include not only some of the most opulent and expensive hotels in the world, but also budget-priced hostels and inexpensive inns. In Los Angeles, a car opens up a world of lodging options, allowing you to stay outside the city proper and still have easy access to most major tourist attractions. If you don't mind splurging, consider Hollywood or Beverly Hills. To save money, stay near the airport or in the eastern suburbs of the city.
