Amoeba Music, Los Angeles

Browse aisle after aisle of some of the biggest music legends at Amoeba Music, a retro-looking store offering new CDs, used CDs, DVDs, Bluerays, cassettes, and LP vinyls. The store is part of a chain, and with 250,000 titles, it remains one of the largest independent music shops in the world. Its retro appeal made it a Hollywood landmark almost instantly, its reputation made by a broad collection of music under one roof, showcased over its shopping floors and jazz room. The stock is ever changing as loyal customers come in to trade old for new, and vice versa. • Disneyland for music lovers. Incredible selection of everything you can imagine music and film. Praying on the back for costumers, not a lot of spots but if you're lucky you won't need to park on the street while enjoying hours of vinyl hunting. Prices vary, but mostly are within reason, especially for California. They also sell turntables and books.
  • Best place to buy ANYTHING music related! Best atmosphere, best staff as everyone there has a tremendous amount of musical knowledge. If you're looking for a place that sells vinyl, CDs, Posters, shirts, pins, collector's items, out of print selections,...if you have questions on any particular artist of any genre or wanna see awesome local bands and awesome worldwide acts as well, look no further than the greatest musical source for your needs...the great, the legendary, THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME...AMOEBA RECORDS!!!
  • I went here last week and it was my first time there and I loved it so much! The prices are amazing and they have the biggest variety of music related stuff for cheap that I've ever seen. Highly recommend visiting here. You may run into someone you admire, such as a celeb 😉👌
  • Amoeba Music is a staple of iconic Hollywood. It's always loud and boisterous in here, but that is part of its charm. It is one of the last places you can go to find a decent music selection that isn't online. And they often feature live performances making this a destination spot. It is very touristy. Worth checking out certainly at least once.
  • Beautiful place! We found DVDs that can't even be found online! I am amazed at the variety. I splurged with my husband. Almost bought the entire cassette collection. I love the dusty boxes under the actual items, I found these amazing audio books for a $1. I'll be shopping here every month to allow time for new cassettes and audio books.

Where to stay in Los Angeles

Los Angeles may be synonymous with luxury, but its accommodations include not only some of the most opulent and expensive hotels in the world, but also budget-priced hostels and inexpensive inns. In Los Angeles, a car opens up a world of lodging options, allowing you to stay outside the city proper and still have easy access to most major tourist attractions. If you don't mind splurging, consider Hollywood or Beverly Hills. To save money, stay near the airport or in the eastern suburbs of the city.
