Browse aisle after aisle of some of the biggest music legends at Amoeba Music, a retro-looking store offering new CDs, used CDs, DVDs, Bluerays, cassettes, and LP vinyls. The store is part of a chain, and with 250,000 titles, it remains one of the largest independent music shops in the world. Its retro appeal made it a Hollywood landmark almost instantly, its reputation made by a broad collection of music under one roof, showcased over its shopping floors and jazz room. Where to stay in Los Angeles

Los Angeles may be synonymous with luxury, but its accommodations include not only some of the most opulent and expensive hotels in the world, but also budget-priced hostels and inexpensive inns. In Los Angeles, a car opens up a world of lodging options, allowing you to stay outside the city proper and still have easy access to most major tourist attractions. If you don't mind splurging, consider Hollywood or Beverly Hills. To save money, stay near the airport or in the eastern suburbs of the city.

  • There is nothing not to love about Amoeba. From the cool neon frontage to the very vast amount of music and DVD's. The staff are very approachable and informative. The staff we approached seemed to genuinely love their job. Who could blame them? There is a range of new and used music to buy so depending on your budget really. Also, their merchandise and poster selections are on point too. You can pretty much find what you are looking for here. Also, they validate your parking for you.
  • Been coming for over 2 decades and it never fails to amaze me. The selection is huge for music lovers and big variety of movies. Prices are fair, new and used merchandise. Parking sometimes is hard to find, but you can park across the street. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. One of the very last music stores, that actually has an old school feel and carries such a wide range of products. I can spend all day looking at stuff, recommend it to everyone.
  • A place to buy and sell recorded music. They have collectors' items (rare vinyl) and the usual music store accessories. I brought several bankers boxes of vinyl and CDs to sell. I think they gave me a fair price. The decor is crazy colorful and it is just a fun store to browse and hang out. I would return to either buy or sell merchandise.
  • What a fantastic store. Anything music or movie related can be found somewhere in the store if you look hard enough. More than anything it's just a terrific place to people watch and soak up local color.
  • They have a great music selection and the live shows are cool too. I always wonder how they know that I'm actually in the store when I'm parked in their parking lot, but I guess the world is full of mysteries. Also you're gonna see some weirdos here and it's awesome.
