  • Nice park offering camping, Pirates Cove waterpark, paddle board, canoe, paddle boat, kayak rental in spring and summer. Also has a disc golf course, playground, and picnic areas. Boat and kayak launch for those with own boats, fee required. The paddle boating area is roped off and not very large except for casual 1/2 hour water experience. Fishing allowed but not to eat. Deer, birds, small creatures as well as bald eagles in winter and nesting osprey in spring/summer time frame. I'm not a big fan of their walking trails but they do have trails by the water and through the woods. Mason Neck State Park further down Gunston Road has great trails.
  • It is a great place for using an RV but not so much a tent. The area you are to pitch your tent is on rocks so you best be on more then a sleeping bag when camping in a tent. The facility did have a more modern theme as all camp sites had electricity. But who goes camping to plug in? This place is more of a glamping spot *glamor camping* Heated bathrooms, laundry facilities, showers, and electrical outlets to charge all your stuff you might bring. Great place if you need a little bit of luxury, just don't forget your cot to raise your sleeping bags otherwise you will feel all the rocks while your sleeping.
  • Wonderful experience camping here in our 40' 5th wheel. Pretty and clean park with nice staff. Convenient to Washington DC and major highways along with shopping.
  • Took my Boy Scout troop here camping once. They have reasonably nice facilities. Recommended.
  • Trails are poorly maintained with lots of downed trees in the way. Combined with poor marking I found it a challenge to stay on the trail. (Tons of marking in some areas... then none where you need it most.) Kayaking was a disappointment too with decent sized pull on the boat. I liked nearby mason neck way way better.
