In the woods of Kentucky, Maker's Mark produces small batches of bourbon whiskey. Recognizable by bottles sealed with red wax, the company distills its spirits at 45 percent alcohol by volume (90 proof) using red winter wheat instead of rye. Take a regular tour of the distillery and taste its bourbon, or book an extended tour, where you'll witness the inner workings of crafting this spirit (and you'll get a set of wax-dipped rock glasses as a souvineer). There are plenty of stairs to climb, so dress comfortably. Check out the gift shop, where you can get items such as bourbon chocolates, fleece sweaters, cigars, and coffee. Beautiful grounds and thorough tour. If you go right now you will see a beautiful blown glass exhibit By Stephen Powell. If you miss the exhibit the tour will take you into a section of building with beautiful Chihuly glass ceiling. Stunning! The tasting experience was nice and you’ll get to taste five, but I’d advise to skip the mash especially if you’re doing another tour! Love MM bourbon!!
I went on the Bourbon trail for a day a visited a few distilleries and took some tours. This place had the best tour, facility and staff of all of them. Fantastic tour for only $14! This tour includes all of the buildings and is very informative of the process and the culture of the brand. The entire distillery is beautiful and there is a generous tasting at the end. The gift shop also includes some varieties that you can only get on site so grabbing a bottle or two makes the trip more exclusive when you get home. Just make sure that you arrive well before the tour time you want. Time slots are first come first serve. I will certainly be back for a more in depth tour in the future!
I am absolutely delighted with this place! The best way to learn more about bourbon production is to see it with your own eyes. Maker’s Mark gives you this opportunity. They show and tell you everything about it, and the best part of experience- to try some of their bourbon. Personnel is friendly and professional, exterior and interior design is amazing. Thank you for a wonderful time.
The scenery and buildings are a wonder to see. Fantastic tour and very nice variety for tasting. If you get car sick, the road to the destination is horrible. I barely made it. Was it worth it? Absolutely. Makers Mark is a unique and high quality tour.
Good tour with a lot of interesting facts. They take your through the process from beginning to end. Our tour guide was very good. Nice to see some places still do things the old fashioned way and make a product that they take pride in. Every employee was very friendly and really seemed to enjoy the jobs they had. Like a step back in time.
