  • Disclaimer in advance: tastes differ and the exhibitions will be changing, so this review is not representative, but.. In fairness, we had much more of expected, on the basis of both the opinion of friends as our travel guide. Although the building is very cool and all space for all kinds of contemporary art, said the current exhibition not to us. To conceptual and too much video-art, which is simply not us. Very nice shops and friendly staff and nice and quiet i.v.m. the other famous museums of the city.

  • From Warhol to Van Gogh to the amazing grounds and architecture this place ROCKS! We were even treated to a concert and dance by some local groups!
  • Thought it lacked a bit of interesting art but nice space being under used and needs work throughout

  • Personally, moma ps1 is better than the moma in Manhattan
  • From the MoMA PS1 website: Free Admission as a Gift to New Yorkers in honor of MoMA PS1's 40th Anniversary, made possible by the Anna-Maria and Stephen Kellen Foundation. Through October 15, 2017 all residents of New York’s five boroughs receive free entrance to all exhibitions during regular museum hours (show proof of residence). I came for the Summer Saturday "warm-up" series that features live music outdoors. Luckily, my friend and I had free tickets since she is a Long Island City local resident. Otherwise, the event tickets are a bit expensive ($22 in advance, $25 at door). There is a cash bar, a shallow wading pool (?), and a misting room outside as well. It was scorching out, and the misting room felt great. The music changes each week for this series and it was fun to people watch - mostly young hipsters when I was there. This event runs from 3pm-9pm, but the exhibits inside (not air conditioned) close at 6pm. Make sure to get there in time to see the small collections of modern art. And don't forget to look down at the floor before you leave - there is a tiny video exhibit using a hole in the floor. Almost everyone missed it until they saw us crouching down to view it.
  • Mission of the original PS1 in lower Manhattan reincarnated in Long Island City and well maintained by the parent organization, The Museum of Modern Art. Visibility enhanced by the exciting and popular annual New York Art Book Fair each Fall.
  • Pretty decent Moma experience. It isn't the Moma in Manhattan and the art is much more modern, but it is a cool thing to have in LIC. LIC residents get in free.
  • I love MoMA PS1, it's a great place to see contemporary art in long Island city. Their guided tours give you insight into their permanent collections and the history of the museum. Besides the diverse art, they also have a cafe and two bookstores.
