The Queen Mary, Long Beach

3.6
Once a luxurious ocean liner, today The Queen Mary is home to a hotel, restaurants, and numerous exhibits. Take one of the guided tours to learn about the history of the ship, including its construction and service in WWII. A variety of other tours are available, such as an exploration of the ship’s haunted past and a journey into the historic submarine. After getting your fill of history, browse some of the stores. A nautical-themed gift makes a great souvenir. Don’t leave without sampling some of the onboard drinking and dining options. The 1930’s-themed observation bar, once the liner’s first-class lounge, offers superb ocean views. • Third time we have visited. Buy the passport and do all the tours. They are all fun. James is a great tour guide. Plan to spend 6 hours to do it all.  more »
  • The only problem I have with the QM is the distances to walk. It's a long walk from the parking lot, and a long walk around the ship. So if walking is a problem, keep that in mind. Wheelchair friendly...  more »
  • First off, this is a relic ship with a ton of history, a living museum. We stayed one night in a Mini-suite ... bedroom with sitting room, two bathrooms. The portholes are operational which is a huge ...  more »

  • Always a great time on the Queen Mary. They have great food, music, a museum, and lots of events throughout the year. Just be prepared to spend some money, specially if you want to spend the night in one of their rooms. Always good to plan ahead since they offer good deals for early buyers. This year was our first time going there for their New Years celebration and it was an incredible experience. My whole group had an awesome time. Highly recommend it!
  • I went for chill at the Queen Mary. Everyone was super nice. They had great food options and accommodations. I stayed in an igloo. My one complaint however was regarding the Express passes. They were only good on very few rides which you don't find out until you are actually there. They need all the rides to be able to use the Express passes. Otherwise, I enjoyed my experience
  • Was a lot of fun, went on a haunted tour and listened to some fun stories. Our porthole in our room opened in the middle of the night which added some fun creepiness to it. My only real complaint is that since the vehicle is moored there is no engine sounds so everything can be heard from neighboring rooms. Even just idle chat was very easy to hear.
  • The Queen Mary is a Historic Hotel on the waterfront of downtown Long Beach. I stayed there quite a few times a different but unique experience. Considered to be one of the finest ships ever to sail. Rooms are in a classic art deco and rooms represent what people use to sail back in the days. I would recommend everyone at least stay here one and explore the ship.
  • I was at the Queen Mary Chill event and it was pretty cool. There was an ice skating rink that had a lot of people on it, but my wife and I still enjoyed it. My recommendation is to bring your own ice skates because the line to rent the skates was long. There were also performances that were fun to watch. If you have kids, they will definitely enjoy it.

Where to stay in Long Beach

Most of Long Beach's attractions are near the water, so look for accommodations around East Ocean Boulevard. Downtown sits right in this vicinity, so you'll find plenty of rooms in large hotels, many of which have undergone recent and extensive renovations. For quieter environs with convenient access to the beach, look for cottages, houses, and apartments for rent east of downtown. Many of these offer ocean views. Naples Island at the east end of the beach is Long Beach's toniest neighborhood; the prices of accommodations here reflect this.
